Hi, can someone tell me what is involved in putting a rover v8 in my 260z ?
What parts do i need ?
Can I use the same gearbox ?
What are the rough costs of the conversion parts etc etc

Thanks:cheers:

Firstly, sorry but I can't offer any advice on what is envolved on this engine conversion but I could give you some first hand experience on general engine swaps

You should think carefully about why you want to do it first though(or maybe you already have) and ask youself a few questions:

Why do you want to change the current engine?
Why do you want to use the rover V8?
Are you open to advice on alternatives?
What do you want to use the car for?

The answer's to these questions should allow you to make choices you wont regret and allow you to move forward.

Good luck with the car.

IMO not worth the effort to do a V8 conversion with the Rover / Buick V8 unless you are prepared to spend lots of time, effort and money getting the specialised parts required to get useful horsepower out of it.
For the same amount of effort, the small block Chevy slips in a treat, is well documented, has aftermarket installation parts available to buy rather than fabricate and has power potential only limited by the depth of your pocket...

Don't think there's an off the shelf kit for a rover v8?
I did my old 240 using a rover 4.0ltr v8 from a tvr and a ford box from a 2wd cossy.
Apart from the sound I don't think it was worth the effort
Few turbos on top might be a diffo story

Rover V8's are pants. If you are going V8 do it once, do it right...

JTR book is the bible on the Chevy V8 swap, deffinately worth the 15 quid or however much it is.
