Unexpectedly acquired an RB26 240z project!

The floor rails are there to support the floor, they don’t provide ‘chassis strength’.

NB. You owe me a few hours sleep

I just finished reading all 2300+ posts on your 'Nuts and Bolts' thread :D

Lots of learning for me actually - like, don't upset Albrecht :EXTRAeek:

SO, complete change of plan!!!!

As stated in my first post in this thread, this project came completely out of the blue and I was unsure how to proceed.

I've spent the last few weeks reading numerous restomod threads (here and elsewhere) and, I've sadly come to the conclusion that I probably don't have the skills, knowledge and budget to complete it EXTRA:(
The technicalities of the engine, ecu, intake and exhaust manifolds, intercoolers, turbo(s) etc, etc is just too much for me to learn :conf2:

I've therefore decided to put it into storage until I decide what to do with it - there are a number of options!

In the meantime, to stop myself getting bored, I've bought another project that I feel that I can do justice to! :)

It's more my cup of tea. A bog standard, totally original RHD 240z that I can take my time and document what I'm doing. It's all there, but will need a lot of work on the bodywork!

I will start another thread ...............

I'll take the engine off your hands for my RB project.

Parting out the project may be the most profitable way to go, but at the moment I'm keen to keep it all together. An awful lot of time and expense has been given to getting the shell to accept the engine and drivetrain!

Yeah I get you dude! Just buy another RB when it's time to get started on her

Just looked at your thread and the work done to the shell looks good! Some good amount of time has been put into that.

Interesting turn, the skills and budget required to do repair a shell will take much more time and effort than installing an RB motor into your shell which already looked pretty solid and sorted ready to assemble...
However looking forward to seeing the pictures of the new car, looks like a potentially great original RHD shell.

Dan,

I'm 100% sure that you are right with regards to the time and effort required, but I am 'retired' and have plenty of both! Not too sure on the skills and budget front though? I 'like' to think that I can tackle the bodywork (I've done a little in the past) whereas the RB installation would be very complex for me! The actual finished product (RB build) doesn't exactly excite me too much either - it's to be built as a serious track car or race car, neither of which interest me anymore - been there, done that and can't afford to do it anymore :(, whereas the restoration project does excite me - the idea of stripping it down bit by bit and refurbishing or renewing as necessary is more my thing! However, time will tell!
