Uk RHD 240z Stage 1 of resto complete

It’s been a long time since I posted an update on my resto.

Car has now been fully stone chipped and has its front and rear Techno Toy Tuning suspension on, new wheel bearings, wheel studs, shocks and top mounts - all ready for its front big brake upgrade and rear disc brake set up.

Next stage is to put in the fully restored matching numbers engine, which had been fully balanced with head work completed on it back in its early years when it took place in sprint racing. The car has been off the road since the mid 80s with the gearbox and engine in crates from then until last September. The rebuild process started from a rather rusty position (photos attached) but is now ready to start its next 50 years. Given we only had the head and block pretty much everything else is new with OEM/NOS/or improved modern parts sourced where required.
When tickets for JDM Castle Combe on 9 July first came out last I immediately bought a Paddock ticket, assuring myself the car would be on the roads months before that. I now have 2 months to get her ready otherwise I’ll be parking my Suzuki Swift up and walking in 😫😫

Looks incredible! Love these cars in silver too.

Thanks. It’s was originally in silver (per my Avatar) and trying to pay homage to its racing heritage in the build process.

My resto car was last on the road in the mid ‘80s, after which the gear box and engine were stored away in crates.
Fast forward 40 years and today the car, gearbox and engine were reunited!
Big week next week when fingers crossed it starts and runs ok 🤞
Until then a little drink for the happy girl on her first back home. A98D2A3B-05F0-43B9-A871-52F3817FA93D.jpeg15EF99A0-6735-4561-ADEA-D4018277D944.jpeg

All ancillaries now in with engine. Good pressure on turn over (phew! after nearly 40 years), Mishimoto radiator in, lower valance on along with new bumper… bit of fiddling to be done to fit licence plate but my restorer Andy is great at problem solving!
Zstory exhaust in, bit of a tight fit with T3 suspension but Andy got it in eventually.
Plan this week is to get wiring in and then fingers crossed for a full start up 🥴
Anybody got a washer bottle they don’t need? PO included one that doesn’t quite fit (par for the course on this build 😫)

If possible could you please send me some photos of the wiper linkage, and how its sitting under the cowl?

New rear bumper on, looks great with new number plates, the new IKI rear light cluster and license plate light.
Pity Burlen sent a set of incorrectly set up carbs, fingers crossed they arrive today fixed and Andy the mechanic can get her up and running properly
My deadline of JDM Castle Combe is sadly looking less achievable as had fitment issues with both parts sold to me by PO and new parts bought from Zcardepot

Bad news - Unfortunately car won’t be ready for Castle Combe. I’ll walk in instead as not sure the club would appreciate me using my pass on my Suzuki Swift😂

Good news - car started up and tuned yesterday, in the words of the restorer ‘it’s an animal!’ and definitely proving to live up to the evidence we say during restoration and info provided by the PO of it being a race engine.
Looking forward to getting her on the road in the coming weeks - next target JDM event in Beaulieu in August

Long time off line including a summer resto recess and a rear brake conversion issue.

Nearly 40 years between first and latest photos - off for MOT inspection then rolling road next week followed by some final tweaks/fixes …. One I’ve left on the car for this photo just to annoy the experts😉
