Turning Japanese - again!

For those of you who still remember me when I was on here with my 260Z, you may be interested to know that whilst I have still got my lovely 1968 Volvo 1800S I have also ventured back into the Japanese sports car market.
I have just purchased this little mid-engined beauty to use as my every day car and I absolutely love it!
It’s a 1996, just two owners, 47,000 miles on the clock and absolutely mint.
I will be selling my GT86 to make way for it – that was just a little too modern for me! Feel far more at home in the MR2.
Hope you are all well and seasons greetings to you all.

Hiya Riddler! That looks a cracker - where did you unearth that?

Saw a lovely old Volvo at the NEC in November and thought of you!

Running a 80s/90s modern classic as a daily is a great idea I think. Will this get garaged every night? Unfortunately my 944 has to live outside ...

The Volvo is garaged but this has to live on my drive. But I am laid back about it. I got it at an incredible price after buying it at a classic car auction.

Its no 260Z, but its still a nice buy.

Clearly another guy like me who doesn't get on well with the modern stuff.

Hello chap! Welcome back.

I’ve owned NA and Turbo versions and absolutely LOVED that chassis’s balance.

Drove the NA for 90k miles like I stole it without any major issues - only a relay died.

It was the most surefooted, go kart feeling car I’ve had - especially at high speed!

The P reg would have had the snap oversteer issues sorted in the main and that engine LOVES 4K+ RPM!! Chuck in a K&N replacement panel filter and after a few hundred miles the note of the engine really changes and makes the best sucking noises!!!

The other things I found the car was awfully sensitive to were tracking and tyre pressures.

Decent stock sized tyres are hard to find. I went 17” on mine (Kahn RSR) which suited the car well but made the car a little twitchy over the washboard bumps on the road.

Steer WELL CLEAR of Yokohamas - my bottle ran out well before the grip on the dry but in the wet they were a complete liability on that chassis.

Still fancy one for my 10 car dream garage! A great buy! [emoji106][emoji106]

Thanks for the info - all very useful. Mine has 205/45/16s on the front and 225/45/16s on the back.
First thing I did was put four new tyres straight on. The back ones proved hardest to source and as I wanted the same all round went for Toyas in the end.
I think mine is the Rev 4 model so a lot of early issues sorted out.
2.0 16-valve twin cam with 168bhp on tap - it’s quick enough for me and I love the way the T-bar glass roof panels lift out (though no use this time of year!).
