Hi all, i am wondering if any body has any ideal how to fix a steering track rod end fouling new rota wheels? Any suggestions from anybody would be great!
Will give you a run down on what setup i am trying to run on my 1974 240z
Rota rxr 8j x 15 4 x113.4 et 0
New brake set up , Toyota brake caplier s12 with peugeot vented disc with 260z hubs with bump stop spacer on new BC coilovers, catching on base of track rod on alloy wheel. Question could i put a spacer on hub need a good 10mm to clear or can i use a rose pivot joint,if so does anybody know where i can obtain one please?
Thanks for any suggestions in a pickle with this. Many thanks Tim Burn

I think that the bump steer spacers work best on 15x7 or smaller, my understanding is if your running bigger than this they will foul….maybe get them machined down, or try them without and see if you need them.

its not the wheel size why you need them(normally) its suspension related. the bigger the wheel the more space there is, I've got some on 14" wheels.

Heres a picture, thanks for the replies, but the bump stop spacer is about the steering arm and under the coilovers so can't think this will make any difference! Could have this all wrong !!! Many thanks to you all, anybody got any other ideas need to sort this asap cheers Tim

the bump steer spacer increases the distance between the hub spindle and the steering arm, effectively pushing the TRE out towards the wheel.
You can run a spacer, but it will make the wheel closer to contacting the wheel arch.

looks like its the bump steer spacer, you can run a offset one to get away from the problem , I've used some for years on my 240z with 15x8 0ET Rota's and gives you a bit of camber on the front without cutting up your strut mounts,

If you not to low you can do without the spacer or loads on here don't run them anyways,

hope that helps

You don’t remember which ones your running Gary? Are you also running coilovers?

This is taken from the z store site which you have to click to say you understand when purchasing their bump steer spacers:

I understand that these items were designed for wheels that are 7" wide or less. If purchased for a wheel other than 15" or larger, or greater than 7" wide, there are no returns.

As everyone has said, junk the bumpstop spacers. Ive never fitted any or felt the need for them, even on my track zed.

Thanks everybody for your great replies, have removed bump stops and there is plenty of clearance to wheel, i do think track rod end is pointing upwards abit thou! Have emailed technotuning about there tie rods( track rod ends) and the photos and measurement given i think they we fit with bump stops in , so have ordered a set and we try and tell you all my findings etc for future reference with 8j alloys.
Many thanks again to you all, hopefully see you at Donnigton classic.
Kind regards TimScreenshot_20220412-211437_Yahoo Mail.jpg
