Beams engine?

Toyota did both a 'red top' and 'black top' version of these engines. They were produced at the tail end of the 90's as more tricked out VVTI versions of their more standard NA engines. They made around 200bhp rather than 165 ish bhp on the earlier 3sge engined cars, and were fitted in both MR2's and Celica's or the era.

There were far less of them produced making them very desirable as well as the obvious obvious performance advantages. Production was around 1998-2000 and was limited to the Japanese market too, only making them more elusive. A few have made it over as grey imports over the years but they're a rare sight in the UK.

Alot less fun to drive in comparison though. You are buying the TA22 for investment, the GT4 above is for an enthusiast to drive and enjoy ;):)

"Currently used as a bonkers weeked road driver" - that's Rob, is it ?

I already have 2x S30s for 'enthusiastic' driving, the TA is for a project to reconstruct and the pleasure to drive, that it's an investment, (like the S30s) and unlike some other Datsuns, is purely coincidental and an added bonus.

It has a crossflow-head, a 3T slots in and a pair of twin-choke Webers on a lowered chassis.....it'll be fun too.

Maybe the latest Salmoni !
