The perfect wheel/tyre?

For a road car I must think these are or I wouldn't of bought them........or maybe it's just because they were good value for money. Came in at £628 with vat, delivery and a set of black nuts. Bargain IMO.

Yep. It does look good Terry but you wont get than look with 15x8 et0 wheels. The tyre will move out 10mm and rub on the arch with 225 tyres. I may try these on the silver car to see how close it is to a standard arch lip.

They were bought for the red 280z but may swap between the silver car on occasions. The 225's on the silver one do rub on rare occasions.

I guess it's horses for courses. These were bought specifically for road use and I didn't want the tyre to rub with the car lowered or the extra weight of a passenger. 205 is IMO the widest you can get away with unless you go for et10 wheels like Terry or the rota's on my blue car.

Well John there actually 8 1/4 inches wide not that makes them fit better, just a bit of neg camber installed on the rear legs, to make it spot on i will be fitting some ecentric lower arm bushes to loose some of the camber so in effect reducing the track on the rear a bit

Wheels came direct from rota and tyres from demon tweeks. Fitted by a local tyre company in exchange for setting up a new network printer.

John have you experienced any issues with the 205's on the 8" wide RKR's?

I'm thinking of getting a set myself but without flares or rolled arches it might be a squeeze so the narrower the tyre the better.

Hi All,

I'm getting to the point where I need to think about wheels and have seen some that I like which are 16x8J ET10 Will there be any fitment issues if clad with 225 x 50 tyres? I don't have flared or rolled arches.

I really like the look of the 205's on an 8" rim. They did struggle to get them to seat but got there in the end. With regard to rubbing. It all depends on your car. an original car with factory arches and lip. It will rub on occasions if the wheel goes up high into the arch. I rolled mine so I wouldn't have this issue. I haven't had a chance to try them on the silver car to see how bad it is. 225's will rub on this size rim if the car is lowered.

I think I've read (but can't confirm) that the 2+2 is slightly wider at the rear. I know the rear light panels are different than the 2 seater.

Thanks Guys,

Well I'm more after filling the arches than going really wide, so I can live with 205's especially if it will mean less rubbing issues. I think I could get something wider under the rears and was actually thinking about explore 9" but then I'm not sure it's needed for the look I'm after and can always space out if the wheel sits too far under.

I believe my struts are having lowered springs but they came with the car (new) when I purchased it and haven't yet had the opportunity to see how it will sit with all the weights in it as it's far from complete. I think 205's are probably the safer option then but anyway I'm please the rims I have my eye on will be suitable.
