i - is that a ZClub official publicly taking a stand in any future legal action by someone having paid many £1000s for something unrecognised

Legal minefield for which the club frequently closes down threads which I'm trying to avoid.

I have personal opnions on the subject but they remain private.

Please tell me what are the threads that the club frequently closes down
this is one of the easiest going forums around and next you will be saying the place is over moderated

And no that is not the club making an official statement on the subject as you well know it is me giving my personal opinion and if I can not do that on here in case someone wants to take legal action against me for my beliefs the world has come to a sorry state

And when you say you want to keep you personal opinions to yourself why the change as you have never bothered before

This isn't the car that is featured in the video that kick started this thread.

The above one was offered for sale at > £100k IIRC some time back and is not a "normal" super samuri . I forget the exact details that make it special. Something to do with it having some special parts ?

I'm thinking Ali was just saying that they are spotted at Goodwood too.

yep remember all the conversation around this car.

There is some discussion upon whether it be an ex-works shell...or not ! Alan is deeply involved. Paul also brought his car over to Le Mans Classic and stayed on our campsite.

Controversy put aside for a moment - Paul gets his car out of the garage and seen - should be applauded for that !

In whose fantasy am I "deeply involved"?

If the owner wants to assert that it's an "ex-works shell", then by all means let's hear the evidence. I don't see any at all.

Maybe he could get Philip Mould and Fiona Bruce to feature it on 'Fake Or Fortune' for him? Although they might want a bit more provenance than a stock replacement lower radiator support crossmember with a misread part number on it...

What’s not normal?

Or what is normal?

That my learned friend is the million dollar question !

What I gathered from the other recent thread was that the "normal" offering from Spike's shop was labelled super samuri. Road going production 240z's were were modified with heaps of go faster bits.
But LPC 566K (above) is claimed to be a works shell and hence my suggestion that it wasn't a normal Sam.

Confused ? Welcome to the club.

The reality is that there's not a single thing on the car, not a single thing, that would suggest this was a 'Works'/'ex-Works' bodyshell. Nothing. The 'evidence' that has been offered up so far is just breathtakingly poor.

The what? is nowhere, but the why? is just as obscure. Why, really why, would this car be based on a 'Works' bodyshell. And even if it was, which one, and where's the provenance? If it was, there would be a clear lineage of descent and a proveable change either from Japanese 'carnet' registration documentation to UK licensing or a period body serial number swap (with obvious connotations). Smoke and mirrors do not suffice in such cases.

The truth is simple: It's an early 'Race Head Services'/'Samuri Conversions' customer car, based on a standard UK market HS30-prefixed 'Datsun 240Z' with the *usual* list of additions and modifications, plus some evidence of period repair, which was in roadgoing spec and - apparently - used in club sprints and time trials in period. It has been restored/refurbished recently to a really good standard and as such it should attract some willing buyers should it be put up for sale again. Interesting and unique enough, so why oh why does it need to be any more than that?

Why the need to sex up the dossier?
