Datsun 280z survivor car.

Tax and MOT exempt.

Unfortunately I am having to sell my lovely Datsun 280z. 1977 2.8L 5 speed car. Never driven in the winter on the salty roads. It is kept in my garage.

This Datsun is not your typical 280z. It is completely original as far as the body goes. It is a Californian car and has all its original panels and even the original rock solid floor panels with the original under sealer. It really must be seen to be appreciated. The only repair that has been undertaken is to the battery tray. It needs a minor repair to the inside corners of the tail gate. That's it. Its an original car in original paint so there are areas where the paint has cracked and a bit of paint has been used to stop it rusting. The bonnet is sun beaten being a Californian car. The interior is in exceptional condition for its age, especially the seats, headliner and door cards. The dash is cracked as you would expect from a Californian car and there are a couple of bits of trim that are missing due to the hot climate. When I say its rust free I mean RUST FREE. I have owned a few classic cars and when people say they are rust free they are not.

I spent 2 years looking for one that was not restored and not rusted. I wanted a 280z in original paint so that I knew what I had. Not a car which had been painted and full of filler underneath. It is becoming harder and harder to find these cars, especially in this original condition. A beautiful classic that is appreciating year by year.

This 280z drives fantastically and sounds truly amazing; courtesy of the Z story full exhaust system and triple Webber carbs. It has plenty of power now and can really be enjoyed. The triple Webbers sound so good on wide open throttle. The Datsun can be driven and enjoyed as is or you can have it resprayed to finish it off if you like.

Since I have owned the car I have done a lot of work to it as I intended to keep it. Here is a list:

Thousands have been spent on this Datsun to get it working well.
  • Brand new Triple 45 Webbers fitted with 30 mm chokes (These chokes are optimal for the car at present, professionally set up on the rolling road). Fitted just before Christmas
  • Brand new Mangoletsi intake manifold. Fitted just before Christmas
  • Brand new 123 programable distributor. Fitted just before Christmas
  • Set up on the rolling road by At Speed Racing who specialise in tuning carbs. Dyno sheet shows it makes 155 Hp and 178 torque. This is really plenty of power for a light weight classic but if you want more you can install a N42 cylinder head and CAM which should take it to over 200 HP
  • New rocker cover gasket
  • New high performance sump gasket
  • All the gearbox seals have been replaced. This was a big job as the gear box needed to be removed and the shifter rod removed to replaced the seals there as well. No more gearbox oil leaks.
  • Brand new clutch and bearing fitted last month when the gearbox was refitted
  • New polyurethane bushings in the gearbox cross member
  • New sway bar bushings fitted in the rear and I have a set for the front here as well
  • New spark plugs, K&N oil filter, new dipstick, oil in engine and gearbox replaced with high quality correct oil.
  • I have all the receipts for these parts
More photos can be emailed or sent via wasap. Wasap is easier. I can also send you a video of the underside and also of the car running. £19995 or very near offer.
