Subaru R180 conversion - input flange

Hi guys,

Looking for some advise on swapping the input flange over from my current R180 to the Subaru R180. Have done some searching on here and other forums and found some people saying it must be torqued to spec and pre-load testing and others saying just tighten it up with an impact.

Am concerned about the latter as don't want to ruin the diff, or am i over thinking it?

I have removed the Datsun flange fine just don't want to touch the Subaru until i know what needs to be done.

Any advise appreciated,

Ash

I just tightened it to what the subaru one is that found on hybridZ, I think it was 86 lb/ft but don't quote me as i am not sure.
Edit. It's actually 136 lb/ft. See the hybrid thread.

I bought a new Subaru r180 torsen diff and took both flanges off with impact. The square Datsun 240 flange held nicely in my vise on the new diff. I used loctite and my 1/2 inch torque wrench to tighten to 137 ft/lb. I have driven about 1000 miles so far with it installed and it is preforming beautifully. I was paranoid the whole time installing but it worked out fine.
