Recent purchase of this 1976 280Z in Northern California that has been sitting since last year per the previous owner, it was running and driving when parked.

This car has the original California blue and yellow plates which means that it has been in Cali since new.

Per the previous owner, brakes redone, new radiator and cooling fan clutch, clutch master, fuel tank, tuneup and new tires last year.

It is an original (306 Silver Metallic) with sunbaked paint and interior etc. Suspension needs to be gone through etc.

Appears to have the original factory spare wheel and Toyo Z tire.

I have not washed the outside before these pics were taken but I will before it's shipped.

Aftermarket radio.

Numbers match L28 and 4 speed manual transmission. w20zygsFQ+WzPNS8lrXVOQ.jpgo1cG8aXJRk6Km2g2TMhX0Q.jpgcpc+mh+wQ+qqRfoP0rIxKg.jpgIMG_0149.jpeguKM8tup8TU+v2TpE%a+58Q.jpghWz1JpEaRR6oF1yXqqDmqQ.jpg

I took it to the shop this week and within an hour the mechanic was able to get it running, something about the temp sensors and dirty intake and AFM which he cleaned up with a can of brake clean. I thought it would be something pretty simple since the owner said that it ran great until it sat over the last winter.

I stripped out most of the interior which had tatty shag carpet and did a quick vacuum of the inside and located some flakey rust on the drivers side floor pan. Further scraping revealed some rust through in several spots on the drivers side floor and behind the drivers seat floor. The passenger side looks to be in much better nick visually so i did not remove any of the mastic on that side.

The rest of the metal on the car looks remarkable including the hatch slam panel, spare tire well, wheel arches front and rear, dog legs, inner fenders and underside.

I took the car out on the street for a quick 1 mile drive, brakes work well, accelerates well, shifts smooth and tracks straight. No unusual noises or grinds.

I will have the title on the car in a few weeks in my name.

Has a clear California title currently and early California plates. You can not have blue and yellow plates assigned to a car unless it was assigned those plates from the start.

Anyway, i provided a link below to over 300 pics and I do have a driving video that I can send to you as well. Sorry the pics are not in any kind of order.....Imgur is tough to get to work well.

Let me know if your interested and I priced it to sell at $11,500.

If you want to order parts and ship them over in the car I am happy to assist.

I'm very happy to report I've given Mike the deposit for this :)

It's been a long old approx 12 months of learning, researching, questioning you guys endlessly and going to look at other members cars, but I'm really happy with this choice. Gives me a really solid base to work off, without being too big an outlay of cash, along with the knowledge that I'm buying from someone tried and trusted :)

It's going to be a rolling resto, but thankfully Mike is doing the hard bit for me on the other side of the pond as we speak - it turned out that despite how bad it all looked visually on the floors, only the driver's side needed welding. So it's having some plating done now, along with all of that surface rust ground off, then treated, then painted with POR15 and new underseal applied.
Then when I get the car I'll be figuring out how to put new sound deadening down and painting the floors myself, yikes! 😬

Driver's floor has just had the plate put in (see top right) which didn't even disrupt the pressed shapes of the original floor, which is good! Next is the sill plates!

Thanks everyone. Can't wait to receive the car, even though it's going to be a while yet.

Now putting my shopping list together for stuff to come over in the car

If anyone wants to order any parts and have Mike put them in the car, there should be *some* room left!
