I’ve gone with a uni filter that simply pushes in the spiral wound inlet hose.
The box is 125mm deep clears the inner wing by 15mm, I can just about get the top off with 90mm trumpets fitted.

a 432 style airbox? One that sits in front of the radiator panel? Same as e36/45 m3?

Just managed to install 100mm hose right through on my 260z, no cutting of panels required. It’s a real tight fit though. I’ve also had to shorten the stacks down to 60mm as I couldn’t remove the airbox cover with 90mm stacks installed. Not sure what to do with the front section yet, I don’t think I want the hose pointing forward like Sean’s it’s just too wet in Cumbria for that.F156084A-7BC9-4101-92A4-F5EF1D5C064B.jpegCBA38FFA-2CDD-47F1-9361-78ADB7854CAD.jpeg

You drive your Z in the wet ?

I don't want to suck up all that grit either - my filters are on the trumpets inside my 'airbox'.

To answer your question and that wasn't mine in the photo - does it not depend upon the overall length from head to end of trumpet - some inlet manifolds are longer than others.

My trumpets are of variable length atm.

Hello Datsun Z owners around the world. I've had this Red 1972 Z for 16 months now and I'm really having fun upgrading, tuning and driving it. My first Z decades ago, was a '73 that was totally stock.
This one is way better. I've put in a street friendly Comp Cam, new valve guide seals (2 were bad on #6) and jetted the Weber DCOE's for a clean burning plugs and no bog at 2,000 rpm. Also,
electric power steering, recurved the distributor, Derale cooling fan controller, Delco 100 amp alternator and blue tooth Pioneer stereo. This fall I finished the installation of AC which is required here
in Texas, 6+months a year. I'm hoping to find a lead on how to buy one of the Skiddell Pmac air boxes. Cool air really helps the power. I look forward to leaning many great ideas from long term Z owners that do quality work.

Turn, you need the shorter manifold hen you won’t have a problem getting the filter lid off although it’ll be tight still, easier with battery out of car also depending on Bhp you r pushing if you have the air filter the other side of the rad support,I’m pushing over 300 bhp so needed a bigger filter so bit of a tight squeeze

Hi @Texasroadrunner, take a look here to see the situation with getting the club airbox.

Thank you jonbills. I do prefer to do the box matching my 3 DCOE's for fit and location. My only concern is will it fit okay on a LHD Z with brake booster and master cylinder close by. It probably will but I'm just thinking about that.
A different subject; When I had my Z shipped to Texas, which is classic muscle car, hot rod and 4x4 truck Heaven, I didn't expect to find so many Z fans here. People stop me and want to know car history, what year, what mods etc. I was quite
surprised by this. Thanks again for the airbox info. I hope there are some left to buy.

If there was any future issues - my cousin would be happy to take on the production of the airboxes. He teaches at nottingham university but has his own workshop at home where he does a lot of work with prepreg materials etc.

What's the best way to attach the hinges to the club air box? Rivets?

I want to make sure nothing can be sucked into the engine..

I recommend ratchet straps, although aesthetically they're not the best :jester:

Nice. What Throttle bodies and controller are you running? My Weber DCOE's are not happy with ethanol in the Texas heat and can vapor lock. I'm waiting for the cold air boxes to be made for the members that want them. I really would like to convert to fuel injection someday. Thanks.

I’m running Jenvy TBs with an Emerald ecu,There is an upgrade available for the ecu, might go see Karl about that but it’s just come off the rolling road so I’ll leave it for now.
If you are looking for an ecu have a look at the Max,They are based in Sweden ,lovely bit of kit
