Sticking with auto but it may go in the 280z for a while. I'm planning on doing a self contained install that can be easy put back to l-series in the future.

I've had cars delayed due to them randomly picking a container to investigate/check title eyc

Cost ME 10% for their pleasure

Absolute joke

Hopefully the car will show up, with any luck it'll be some typo with the paperwork.
Twenty years ago I exported a Range Rover and a 530 to Borneo. I had an umcomfortable wait when the cars were "lost" enroute. They were found in Singapore 3 weeks after being misplaced. The import process into Brunei was a much more complicated affair. My head hurts thinking about it now!
Good luck

Sorry to hear of your woes John, as selfish as it sounds it makes me feel as though I got away with my issues lightly by comparison.

Really relieved to hear they found the car! hopefully saves a lot of heart ache. Lets hope CFR move quickly to resolve the mistake at their own cost and actually get your car back to Blighty without any further delays... Keep us posted, I'll be interested to hear how CFR handle this in light of my recent dealings with them.

I still haven't been able to talk to CFR. My contact is either engaged of doesn't answer. I've left a voicemail but no reply. It's Kingston Shipping that tell me the car is still at LA. I sent an email last night and will try and contact them again tonight.

I'm interested to know how your dealings went.

That's really disappointing to hear, who's the contact? I dealt with Steve Feeney who was really helpful through out. Really one for them to setup and resolve...

I won't go into exact details here, however I will put it all up on my project thread once I've resolved it all. What I will say for now though is having initially been very helpful with my claim things have taken a turn, and I'm being met with severe resistance and un-explainable delays. Unfortunately they are managing to undo all of their good work early on... :(

Keep us posted.

Tried contacting again last night through email and phone but no luck. Just to clarify, I have had zero contact from CFR regarding my car not being shipped. The only contact is with the UK agent who tell me the car wasn't in the container and from what they understand, it got left out because it didn't fit.

I will try to make contact again tonight.

2 pages and no car!

Finally talked to Gino's assistance Jonathan and he couldn't be more apologetic. Seams like nice bloke. They are waiting for the title document to be sent back from the UK then they will hopefully ship it next week. I guess all being well I will get it end of November, beginning of December.

John, I have had a few cars go by way of CFR and of Oceans...

Have you had dealings with Oceans before????? Those cars went to the Netherlands.

Just wondering if they are any better if you decide that CFR is no way to go in the future.

Ya, progress at last, although CFR are not telling me anything, Kingstown shipping (the UK agent) just sent me an email to say the car has now been allocated a container to go in. No news as to what ship it will then go on but that will come. Expected arrival date is 25/11/16. At the moment the container tracking says it is empty to the shipper so I'm guessing its being loaded. With that arrival date it needs to leave LA pretty soon.

So, the never ending story continues. Car arrived a little while ago..........to the wrong port again and has now been transported to Felixstowe and unloaded. But....I still cant collect it as its on hold from CFR. This is were it gets a little complicated. Rung CFR and they say they have no record of me paying for this container. I have paid for the last container but as CFR didn't get around to invoicing me, I paid the UK agent who should of passed the money on to CFR. Because the car turned out not to be in the container it would appear that the UK agent didn't pass on the money I paid.

I've now left both parties to talk tonight and told them I'm picking the car up tomorrow.

Just had the phone call to say it will be cleared tonight for collection in the morning.

I hope you managed to collect the car today John.

I'm looking forward to hearing more details about this one

Well, collected the car this morning. Brought the blue car home so the silver one can get worked on in the workshop. I haven't had time to check over the whole of the car but from what I've seen I'm very very happy. It has been painted in the past and most of what you see in the pictures is red primer. There is a bit of surface rust on the roof and a few very small bits of surface rust around the body but that about it. Underside is perfect as is the rear slam panel. Door shuts, wheel well and engine bay are in really nice condition and in their original paint. Cant find any signs of repairs or filler. Air con is complete and even has the belt still connected. Car was last used in '84 and looks to have had an easy life. Battery tray area has no signs of rust and is all in its original paint. Area in front of rad support is clean and in its original paint.

I took a couple of pics but will jetwash the car and take some more over the weekend.

Thanks Huw. It's been a long time coming but the timing is quite good as I'm waiting for parts on the 280z so I can spend a week or so getting this on the road and usable. Another bonus was CFR refunding half the shipping for the hassle.
