Silver rat look 240z

I also have mixed feelings about them. When I put them on the first thing I thought were too big and I'm still undecided. I liked the small wheel look of the red wheels. Maybe 15's would have been a better option. One thing is for certain though is that it changes the look to be a lot meaner.

With regard to practicality, it doesn't drive quite as nice but raises the ride height to be much more practical on the road.

I liked the red ones John. I think the red suited the car and it was also 'different' to have steel retro wheels.

When I bought the NS2R tyres and had the wheels powdercoated I didn't really know which car to put these on. The choice was this car, the blue one or the red 280z that's in for paint. I can see these wheels becoming the ones I swap between cars for track and drag use.

The wheels are 16x7 and the tyres 225/45. The same size as the blue car. I had considered 15x8 0et with a 205 tyre (which is the biggest you will fit on a lowered standard zed) but the stretch will seriously compromise track handling (fine for the road and looks though).

I studied all the data about track tyres and max/min wheel sizes for a given tyre width. Then I looked on various forums about track tyres and people that race. The outcome of this is that you cant use a 205 tyre on any more that a 7" rim and expect it to work as intended. I tried to find some data that to support the size I wanted to run but couldn't.

As said, I'd agree that the wheel looks a bit big and the profile small. Something else to be aware of is the overall diameter is right on the limit with this tyre and standard front valance. The tyre just rubs on the front lower lip as you turn the steering and this is with standard caster. If you want to run more caster or go for 50 profile tyres you will have to trim the lower valence.

I never thought I'd say this but I'm gonna go out there and say I actually prefer the red steels, they really suit the patina and look of the car.

I'm sure the new wheels are great for performance and look great but they almost look too smart for the car imo...

Time for another change of wheels. Swapped the ones from the red car as they looked a bit small on it for some reason. I'm pretty happy with the look now but may need to lower the back a little. It has totally changed the way the car feels and drives too. It's much quieter now with virtually no road noise. The general ride quality is also much improved with the softer sidewalls and I now actually really like the BC's. It has become a joy to drive on the road. I did put all the suspension apart a couple of weeks ago to re-grease all the urethane bushes which may have contributed to the smoother drive.

I had exactly the same problem 5 years ago when I imported my mustang from
California it turned out it was still in the docks in long beach minus a lot of the spare
Parts I had in the car. At the time I felt I had been scammed and had a few sleepless nights
I eventually got my car 8 weeks later. I still find it hard to believe in this day and age with
All the security checks they can send an empty container over , what else is being
Shipped that nobody knows anything about.

I hope they find your car and it’s intact.

Thanks.

Went to a local "cars and coffee" show on sunday morning and had lots of good feedback on the car. I didn't take many pics as only this one really got my attention.

I liked the complimentary look of the previous wheels but these do work so right !

Was that a black Supra in the background ?
