New is fine, plenty of them working on cars today and since a while.

My Webbers are Spanish made via USA back to England, bought brand new and have never been a problem

Got a brand new set, one of the carbs was so badly drilled that we wasted 2 hours on the dyno at the weekend so not that impressed with them.
