personally, ANY INFO on any z is of interest to me, the differences between markets amaze me and how, why and when things were changed.

we should all have to pass an annual exam to stay on here, lol

hay come on fellers don't jump on the guy for him posting what he thinks
if we all agee with each other there would be no discusion
remember Zbirdy is one of the newer users with only 12 posts we should be encouraging him to post more and help the forum grow

And I still think the basics are
240,260&280Z
280ZX
300ZX(Z31)
300ZX(Z32)
350Z

just can't get my head round series1,2 etc

Zbirdy just remember this is the right club to belong to and the best forum to belong to as upto a point you can post your thought on here no matter what others think
:p

Some French bloke, once said to me " now,now let's take a pause & think about what is happening, respect all view,s all belief,s & all Forum input. I took heed. I have been compassionate,I have flown off the handle, I have even got into a heated argument With a respected Z club Administrator.
The thing is Nothing change's the fact that A car is a car,Nothing changes the fact that Life is short & there's more to be gained in Togetherness, & getting on with club member's etc. Z birdy, I am,like you a Lover of the Z, & Carl too is passionate, like myself.
So one club, one love & as sean has said let's learn from each other to pursue & maintain our interest............DJZ 60.

Ooh dear, that's not very diplomatic Mr Burns.

If you really want to keep to that "one Club, ALL the cars" maxim, then you really ought to write ( as Nissan did ) the following:

S30 ( including S31 )
S130
Z31
Z32
Z33

Otherwise you run the risk of leaving out some very important models............. ;) :D

How about just One club, ALL the owners ?

Nobody's yet started talking of series 1, 2 etc for the S130s which had several changes in it's market-time ! Likewise the Z31 !

Maybe we'll finish like the E-Types with the series 1 1/2 NOT !!!!

So how many "series" of 260Z are there ?

I just see them as early and late (UK spec).

I can distanguish a late car by -

Taller rear suspension legs which results in a different locating position for the seat belt reels.

Volt meter instead of Ameter in dashboard, along with different type face.

Door lock mechanism changed for anti-burst type with appropriate modifications to door.

Strengthening plate on chassis rail inside engine bay near where front tie rod attaches.

Lower front cross-member on rad' support panel and bigger radiator.........or is that all 260's ?

Deeper chassis rails and changes to floor shape.

er.......umm..... that's all I can think of for now.

Well Pardon me for breathing, I only recently joined this outfit, and im still trying to fathom out how to use this website, so please excuse me for not; adding my number, selecting the wrong thread or whatever else im guilty of?
Nice welcome chaps thanks a lot. SeanDezart, im hardly slagging anyone off, am I? If I am it wasnt meant. Thanks for enlightening me about the rear wing repeater thoigh. You see! im a divvy novice, so some good has come out of my post after all.
AS for your reply Mr Beck, I would say read my original post again, have i insulted anyone, or have i insulted you? NO. So why the grumpy tone. No ones getting at you personally mate, put your feet up and take some long deep breaths eh. reduce that blood pressure.
Thanks Steve Burns, thats a friendly reply, what a cheery sort of chap you must be. Its all light hearted isnt it?
Don (Zbirdy) Oh heck wots my number??

zbirdy, the request to note the membership no. was with reference to a nice post form that nice Mr Burns, I just took the opportunity to do a little publicity as you'd mentioned you were a club member ! If I was too hard quoting 'slagging off" sorry, I did say I see where you're coming from, to you, it seems petty to discuss our great cars in such detail. I'm no a Z veteran, but there are some (and that includes Carl) and other younger fans who push the limits of our knowledge a little further ! This discussion is doing that - one is never too knowledgeable to learn something here !

Now, tell me something more about your car, please !

Something else, there have been a lot of newish members complaining of being picked on, put down etc recently. I've never read these before - are people more sensitive or more likely to exteriorize their feelings ?

Don't take it so seriously and expect some backchat - this is a forum after all !

Hello Steve (everyone):
You want everyone to participate on the "Forum", and I can support that position... I honestly believe that you give misplaced advice in this case, that in the long run could be damaging to your goal.

We should all be able to say what we believe, to participate without personal attacks and to freely disagree. However we should all do it within the structure of the Forum; with respect to the Individual that started the Subject Thread; respect to the people that are participating in that thread; and respect to THE SUBJECT AT HAND.

If a good structure for group discussion isn't maintained, the "Subject Threads" can become chaotic and no-one will participate.

It's not uncommon for the discussions to wonder off path a bit and this one certainly has at this point. Nonetheless, it is considered impolite to "hijack" a thread, and head it in a direction the originator did not intend. Hence my original reply - "Right Church Wrong Pew".

If anyone wants an open discussion, I did, and would continue to encourage them to direct their attention to the Topic Areas of: " "Views & Chit-Chat", "Soapbox" or "Anything and Everything", to see if there is a subject thread there more to their interest. Or as I suggested to begin with, start their own Thread.

I simply do not believe that comments that are completely inappropriate to the flow of the discussion thread, or the subject at hand, should be supported or encouraged.

Just my honest opinion...
FWIW,
Carl

Hello Don:
Actually, in my opinion you did insult everyone. You indicate that you did it without intention, I can believe that. It's possible you are as insensitive as I am.

I didn't mean to sound "grumpy", but I did mean the tone to express an equal amount of sarcasm to your own comments.

You made two Posts to this subject thread. In the first one you said you were bored and in the second you indicated you had no real interest in the technical discussions at hand etc.. Then in effect, you ask if everyone in this club was a bunch of technical nerds.

In both cases I believe, with a complete disregard for the person that started this boring and disinteresting thread, as well as for all of us dumb enough to be following along and enjoying it - you attempted to change the subject.... to one more to your liking.

From my perspective that's like walking into a party, filled with strangers who are having a good discussion and throwing the proverbial "excrement" in the punchbowl.

You may not have intended to insult everyone, and you certainly seem shocked that anyone would take offense to your comments. I'm equally surprised that given your insensitivity to how others might receive your comments, that you are so sensitive to mine. Live and learn. Lets just say that now we both know we'll have to be a bit more thoughtful..

kind regards,
Carl

Thank you Carl Beck for your honest opinion, I have indeed learnt from this, forgive me for my ignorance in making a comment, which albeit was quite innocent, i had no idea that members could not make a worthy comment, if they felt it justified about a given subject. It was nothing to do with trying to disrupt the original topic/thread. In future I shall comment in exactly the same way, should i have a point to express i think i have a right to express it. There will be no malicious plot intended to disrupt anything for heavens sake. I really dont understand why members of clubs have to be so god damn political about their membership, surely the idea is to gain (a) knowledge (b) meet new likeminded friends (c) have fun, etc etc. Not get carried away on some strict policy of do's and dont's. There have to be rules, of course there must, I am not so stubborn or rude to think rules are not important, especially on line, but for heaven sake, READ my first comment, it was a lighthearted one, with no intention other than my wish to introduce myself into the forum, and see if anyone else shared my views on those points. Yes perhaps I should have posted on a more general thread/topic line, but hey lighten up PLEASE. I can take harder knocks, im pretty thick skinned, but if you jump on new members the moment they dare to get involved your gonna scare some poor bugger away before they have chance to enjoy anything. The Club website is probably the first point of contact most have for introduction to others, if you adopt your strict politics and no bending of those RULES regime on everyone and everthing, I think a less hardy chap will surely think twice about bringing his car along to the next show for fear of being frowned on, or thinking he surely wont fit in. So think on that Mr Beck. In responding so harshly Mr Beck you have cut off your nose so to speak, because the topic has indeed moved away from the series 1, 2, 3, subject. Anybody agree with my comments?

Hi,To both of you..............................
I have myself, been on both side,s of the 'fence' when it come's to
Forum Debate. I,ve taken thing's personally or shot someone's head off, but usually after a moment of thought thing's return to normal. Both of you have very valid point's & both of you make this forum interesting, rewarding & enjoyable.
You may think diplomacy, mediator or whatever but I would not like to see less input from our freind in the State's,nor would I like to see a new member feel as he is a minority or inferior or what have you. What I find help's, is to join in on other topic's as well,&
you'll see that I bounce from one thread to the next.
Carl & Don, I am sending you warmth & love with open arm's &
asking you both to deviate, from this temporary state of ill feeling.
In fact, whatever anxietie's,that are within should now be released,& unlashed on to me ,DJZ 60 for Hi-jacking this 'thread'
" LET ME HAVE IT.................DJZ 60.
