Ah ok. That’s why I was confused.

Are they KEW in that burgundy car you posted?

just got a response from KEW after asking for more pics.

but this doesn’t look like the seat I posted up at the beginning of this thread. With the head rest it doesn’t creat the harness apertures you see in that first pic

That's because the seat in your first post is an AUTOLOOK seat.

    Gordon Bennett.
    Think I prefer those.
Apologies if you’ve told me but where are they available from?

One thing I am interested in is what seats are available to install in a 260z without having to bash the transmission tunnel as this restricts the base width on the passenger side of a RHD car. Does anyone know of any seats that would accept a 6 point harness than can be fitted with minimum fettling.

    thanks

I think they aren't available at all. I reached out to AUTOLOOK JP several times but received no answer. Maybe used ones are available on yahoo auctions.

I think these are really best design wise but I've heard that they are really small (not for tall european guys). I wish MZR would sell their seats!

I think it was a licensed production run, as I emailed and had a reply a few years ago saying they don't know if they were going to do more.

The originals are not made anymore (they dated from the late 1970s through the 1980s) but a few companies have made runs of repros/lookalikes over the years.

They still come up on Yahoo Japan auctions from time to time, but used ones are usually scruffy if not knackered.

As I think I stated. MZR must be using a base seat that some seat company produce. Just need to know which one

The first few MZR cars had the same seats I had in my old Z then they then started to rework/retrim them a bit ,

Now it looks to me like they have had a mould made to make their seats in carbon fibre , as in the video above, in the style of the Autolook seats , maybe a mould from an OG seat ? or tweaked a bit for our European bigger form, that's what I would do .

I have looked and cant find anyone that makes a seat base like the Autolook, that you could use as a base to start , unless anyone else has found one ?

Seats like those that Autolook used to produce are made on a simple one piece shell moulding, and then upholstered to suit. there's nothing particularly difficult about that, and it is even a DIY-able proposition.

I've done it myself, and I found the hardest part was to find a reliable (and half way sane) upholsterer.

Slightly off topic I think, but still seat related. :)

I've just bought some old school Recaro's for my 510 project that I am having re-trimmed in the style of the GT seats

Image 1 is the seats as I've bought them and 2/3 are as I intend them to be. seats.jpg seats1.JPG Seats 3.JPG
