So after going missing for about 3 weeks in Brexit postal jail(which wasn't fun), they've finally arrived.

I'm really pleased. I've not found anything that I'm not happy about( and I'm the type to find fault in anything I do).

A bit of a height comparison with a standard base gave the following

STD= 17cm(surface to seat base
Rail to lowest part of the mount, 6.5cm
Threaded drop through is 2.2cm

installed height of 14.8cm

REPLICA SEATS = 9CM(surface to seat base)
Rail 2.5cm
side mount rails 3mm

Installed height 11.8cm.

So Should be approx 30mm lower :) which is most pleasing. Given the standard seats once refurbed will 'squish' more, I think these should end up a tiny bit lower with weight on, or the same.

I'll work out mounting them and perform some measurements. If they're any higher once sat in, I'll remove the standard floor seat mounts and fit lower ones.

Awesome.
Do you mean you’re going to cut the metal bracing seat mount out of the car? Or sit them on top like the std seat?

Lovely seats Jason. Now get that car finished, stop getting distracted with vintage motorbikes and air-con.

You will be an old man before you know it. I'm not joking.

The thing that causes the delay(amongst life in general), is in the back of a few of the pics.

Now I've hit the big 4-0, I'm thinking of getting old.

Still, I'm about half the average age of the committee :p

I'm guessing the average age of the committee is about your age. I drag it up a bit otherwise it might be younger than you!

I was being serious though, of course life gets in the way but try not to add to it.

Do you ride your motorbikes?

These look fantastic!

Can you share your experience of getting these made up? Things like process, design choices\limitations. Did you start from a pre-manufactured seat as a base and go from there? Got any lessons learnt or anything you would do differently if you were to do it again?

I could ask questions all night, sorry, I'm very impressed by these.

Apologies, I missed this.

Basically getting anyone in the UK to make a custom seat(not custom trimming) was hard work. People weren't interested.

Find the actual material you want, or have physical samples
Find the actual trimming/fixings you want or have physical samples
be clear about all the details, I used lots of photographs with bits highlighted
find someone who 'gets' what you want, thats the biggest hurdle.

How you getting on with mounting the rails?

I used the recaro low profile rails as they're the lowest height, double locking option there is.

For the side mounts, i've got one lower than standard and it all works, however given the lack of give in the seat compared to standard, I'm going to make my own side mounts and flip them around to get the seat even lower.
