Seat upholstery kits

I’ve got some old 240z strut tower diamond trim if you are interested. I’ve also got some new carpeted trim I’m not using in my resto

Ahh ok, maybe! As long as I could source the same stuff for the tunnels I guess!

Are there patterns available so you can cut it out following a template?

Dcw classics are good stuff so I’ve heard, the seat covers that you get from the states are usually of good standard as for carpet it’s the RHD that is the problem for the 260 over here hence in the other post I’m after the 260 tunnel carpet so I can get a set made up and just swop em over rather than leave car up there then everyone can benefit and get the right pile carpet as they would have the pattern,As for the Lotus cortina,They were a pile of crap when they came out and still are a pile of crap but worth a couple of quid I suppose,it’s sort of not mine anymore as I moved on from fords about forty years ago and got in to the Jap cars, had al, the RS escorts ect but the Zed was/is a much better car,now into the future classics Ie impreza sti,Z4 m coupes ect might invest in a Z 3 m coupe, just waiting for war to break out so the prices come down

I went with ZStore. I repaired my seat foam by adding an extra layer to the seat base and padding out the bolsters where they were worn. Easy enough to find upholstery foam on line (efoam.co.uk)at a fraction of the cost.
I also bought my vinyl kit from ZStore
I’ll check what old diamond pattern tunnel trim I have later this morning for you

Ahh ok I was thinking that might be possible. Do you buy it in the approx shape and then carve it to fit better?

Photo looks like you've had a fight with a dominatrix 😂 Is that the strut towers trim?

The vinyl kit is made to fit. The foam you just buy in metre lengths, trim to size and adhere to existing foam with contact adhesive.

Photo is of strut tower trim, selling as wife refused to wear them!
Seat covers can be a bit of faff to put on but easier with a hairdryer and some zip ties ….. back to dominatrix!

If you’re based near Swindon, wilts, happy for you to drop in

Hahaha.

I did read someone's seat repair DIY yesterday, maybe it was yours if you did a write up? I read you need to use the old wires from the old seats I think?

Strut trim - doesn't look diamond pattern in that pic? Or is it inside out?

Is it the flat type with the pattern just pressed into it? I quite fancy the more quilted look, like this: https://www.martrim.co.uk/car-trimming-supplies/quilted-vinyl.php

That's why I'm wondering if there's patterns you can get hold of. @richiep - you mentioned to me that the vinyl is quite fun to do - and you strike me as the sort of man who would know about a pattern!?

PS I'm in Manchester so bit far for a drop in unfortunately.

I didn’t post my upholstery work, but YouTube a god send. The strut tower trim is plain and the tunnel trim is large diamonds
If you need templates happy to post if you return at your cost

Be careful with putting valuable items in your car when shipping from the USA, often the they get pinched along the way. Best to use shipping companies that specialise in bulky goods. I have heard these guys are good but haven't used them myself, there are quite a few doing this now:

https://www.stsimports.co.uk/
This is always a concern and something to be factored in although Mike is great at hiding bits around the car and can probably bolt some bits onto the car even for you.

Ooh a Lotus Cortina?! Pics please :)

OK interesting. I'm thinking I'll have a go at doing the tunnel & strut tower vinyls myself if I can source the diamond pattern vinyl.

Mike suggested getting carpet sets from a guy called Romas Tamulevicius in Lithuania who does incredible ones at a good price. Think he owns this company: https://www.facebook.com/dcwclassic/
Something else to take into consideration is that DCW do some great carpet sets, you might even get Romas to make you a coloured set if you so wish but you would most likely want someone who knows how to fit them to put them in your car for you unless you have experience in this.

Might you be better off getting some of this work done over in the US before sending the car over? I would argue that this would be cheaper and more secure. I appreciate you wouldn’t get your hands on the car as quick, but if you’re jonesin’ for a Zed fix then pop round. I’ve got lots that needs fixing

He's bolting the BRE spoiler on for me and maybe door cards now that I think about it, but the other parts aren't doable really (seat covers, rubber seals kit).

I'm only going to get carpets for the boot floor cover and the floor mats - the rest I'll make myself out of vinyl (transmission tunnel, strut towers, wall behind seats). All part of the fun! Keeping it all black to avoid mis-matching colours too.
