Search function results ... ach

Apols if this has been discussed before, but unless I've missed a feature, the forum search till is quite poor. It prevents you from searching usefully for anything with more than one word.

Example, if I search for 'hand throttle' (my car has one of these rare items), the search will list anything containing the word hand and anything containing the word throttle. I don't want to read about hands, or throttles ... why can't it just search for the phrase in order to give me the results I seek? Our to prioritise best matches at the top of the list.

nb. I find many searches for many subjects throw up very much the same threads often ... those which have reference to every subject under the Z sun.

Instead of using the top search box
Try using the google search box at the bottom and I believe it will work for what you are looking for as it only shows posts on the forum that include both Hand and throttle in the same post

Thanks Steve, I think that does work. Hadn't tried the higher search ... I wrongly assumed that would run an external web search.

Given the comments elsewhere on the trouble people have finding info on here, I thought I'd post these links to the google search expression syntax.

so, using the hand throttle example from this thread, you could enter this in google:
site:zclub.net hand throttle
try it: https://www.google.co.uk/webhp?sour...spv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=site:zclub.net+hand+throttle

and then, if you want to further filter it down to exclude those also mentioning "choke" you could then change to this:
site:zclub.net hand throttle -choke
try it: https://www.google.co.uk/webhp?sour...e=UTF-8#q=site:zclub.net+hand+throttle+-choke
