'twas a good session - probably no more than 30 cars running so I got maybe 10 runs in before lunch. I've concluded the injected 3.2 engine is slower than the 2.9 on carbs
So what we’re the time differences Jon ?'twas a good session - probably no more than 30 cars running so I got maybe 10 runs in before lunch. I've concluded the injected 3.2 engine is slower than the 2.9 on carbs
Well, the 2.9 was around 13.1 and 13.2 with a best of 12.97, whereas the 3.2 we was 13.4 and 13.5 etc.So what we’re the time differences Jon ?
He fitted lady fuel injection. I bet hes been dreaming about faffing with carbs againSo what we’re the time differences Jon ?
Maybe the mechanics is not making it slower could be age relatedWell, the 2.9 was around 13.1 and 13.2 with a best of 12.97, whereas the 3.2 we was 13.4 and 13.5 etc.
I used to run a 3.36:1 final drive with the 2.9 but now I'm on the standard 3.7:1 and I think that makes a difference.
At least I've got good fuel economy. He fitted lady fuel injection. I bet hes been dreaming about faffing with carbs again

I really didn't get best out of me or car on the day. Struggled with the lights, then messed up some gear changes. Will definitely have another go once carbs reconditioned and engine tuned. Who new trying to go quick in a straight line was so difficult. I'm usually fine on the twisty tracksI've seen the times. Jon you were very consistent and quick in the 13s.
Paul, your quickest reaction time was on your slowest run I think. Did you scare yourself?
Ok you have a bit of work to do but it makes you realise just how quick some cars and drivers can go. Have a look at the 'Hall of Fame' table.
I have seen the 1/4 mile time for a standard 5 speed 240Z quoted as 15.8. Don't believe it, I think in the 17s is more realistic and even that is quick.
If you've never done a timed 1/4 mile it's hard to imagine how tough it is to get a good time and if you 'fluff' the first few yards forget it for a PB.
Well done Jon. Gearing is everything and designing/timing the changes to suite a 1/4 mile is also important - you don't want to be changing near the timing line.
