Think it may be better than under the trees and if it is slightly damp it keeps the dust down unlike if it was blazing sunshine
Hopefully not to hard for tent pegs for shelter
Brilliant view of the track there though almost with out leaving the plot

This being my first time at Donington just wondering about whether to camp or get a hotel.
Is camping available at the circuit or do you have to book in one of the sites nearby ?
Will be just for Saturday night.

Answered my own Question on camping - no camping on circuit direct, just at Donington Park Farm next door.

Good day today even if it was bloody freezing cold, good cars and good people. Amazing to meet the guy who bought my car brand new in 1974 too!
Weather is looking slightly better tomorrow thankfully!

I'm looking forward to it Jonathan and you know me I'll be off around the circuit so hopefully keeping warm. Yeh weather looks to be improving from mid-morning and better still on Monday:thumbs:

A motor-sport mate phoned me this morning to ask if I was there - he'd seen some Datsuns and was expecting me to be with them.

It was great meeting you guys yesterday and getting to see your cars :D  but I woke up at 6.45 with puddles in my tent & things getting soaked :( Looked out at the black skies above and thought, 'nah don't fancy my Sunday in the wet, cold & wind'. So my Z and I sped back down the M1 to RAH Central for a massive Sunday breakfast & central heating :)
It was great to see just how much time, effort & love has gone into those Z's. Oh and money. Till next time  :driving:
Here's hoping for some better weather @ Japfest.

I kinda guessed that was the case Jake, we felt for you when we woke up and saw the weather from our hotel window.
Luckily though by half ten the skies started to clear and this afternoon has been quite sunny and definitely warmer than Saturday, although that wouldn't have been difficult would it:cool:
Good to meet you and hopefully will catch up again at another one soon.

Well I went along today and met a few boring friends, saw a few boring cars and watched a few boring races.

I spoke to the guy who built the engine in my old car and also the guy who built my blue car. Whilst I was bored in the paddock I spoke to a couple of race drivers too, both Nissan drivers

Oh and Andrew Muir and I stayed to the end to see if it improved.

Got a two day ticket so I suppose I'll have to endure tomorrow too.

It's a hard life.

Oh and whilst I was there someone gave Jonathan the 'Member of the Year' award - whatever for I don't know. Someone said it was to do with these 'Gatherings' - a fix if you ask me.

Coombe Abbey? I stayed there in February for a stag do! We were undercover though - it was a "birthday party" as far as Coombe Abbey knew. :D

They wouldn't have needed to be too worried though - the whole vibe of our party was more Bullingdon Club than Club 18-30! (including formal dinner attire in our private dining room and after-dinner entertainment in the form of a sing-a-long to 17th and 18th Century drinking songs - unusual!!!)

Coombe Abbey - nice but you are still a long way off Donington.

Sean, I don't know the total but JK will. There was one in the rally area and one in the paddock (joined by another for a photo-shoot) too.

All I can say is that these events at Donington draw the biggest number of S30 cars I've seen since the 90s Billing days. That's as a result of good organisation and combination of Z Club and the Register.

DJ was 8th in the Super Touring race - a very good result considering the competition.

Also whilst watching the racing I'm always going on about how quick Zs are around there - well just looked and Charles Barter did 1- 24.7 in March 2012 (HSCC Meeting) in his '70s Roadsports' spec car i.e. 2.4, solid disc/drum, 1.75" carbs etc. Compare that tomorrow.

Franky - no ZG that I saw.
