I had a very enjoyable couple of days. Lots of lovely Zeds. Good to catch up with folks again and meet some new faces. Weather was pretty strange, snow, hail, rain, sunshine. Thanks for posting up some great photos of the event :) I had a good sleep when I got back home zzzzzzzzzzzzzz :driving:

Been again today and as always I enjoyed the day. Historic racing always entertains me and met some old and new friends.

BUT - the weather is soooo frustrating. :smash:

It was awful this afternoon, I had to shelter at the side of a toilet for 25 mins, then I stood out in the rain to film Stewart Middleton on the rally stage in his Z.

Dave Jarman DNS his race (I expect due to lack of suitable tyres).

Then driving home at 5.30 the sun is blazing.

So 3 days of bad weather and I think it's going to be fine from now on!

I also think Donington is not 'geared-up' for spectators - I have lots of ideas to pass on to them. And why did they demolish the empty hospitality boxes by the Craner Curves - they would have been a good shelter this weekend?

Pics of the rally Z to follow.

Rally Pics. Of all the rally cars this Z and an air-cooled 911 sounded and looked the best.

Let's give Jonathan, Sarah and son a HUGE thank you for 'going the extra mile' and giving up their Bank Holiday Weekend for us.

What makes this event even better for me is to meet our Z Register friends.

Face-to-face meets are so productive too. I bought a gasket (appropriate I know), K Irons bought some 45 DCOEs, we saw a different Samuri for the first time, a rare US 260Z etc.

Just back and it's been another successful weekend despite the god awful weather conditions trying to ruin it for us - note to committee, get a decent marquee please, it really is time for one.

Really well attended on Saturday and Sunday, and even Monday brought a couple of fresh faces along (well done Dave H and Graham I) although I'm sorry they had to endure the cold and rain today and the diminished stand turnout, but thanks to everyone who came and supported the event again, it really wouldn't be much of a gathering without you.

A few pics attached, must try harder with photos...!

Thanks again and hope we can do it again

Jonathan.

Dear All

Donington Historic gremlins plagued the BlueZmobile yet again this year. After two extremely good test days at Silverstone and Donington with the beast hitting a 1.16 dead at Donington with Roberto Giordanelli at the wheel, we arrived at the Historic with buckets of understeer for qualifying and intermittent fifth gear selection issues which gave out all together around lap 7 of the race!! Came in for a quick check over and carried on racing without 5th until the gearbox exploded and cracked the casing!!! That's the fourth box in four years! Have one more spare that has been improved / re-engineered to try.

Have onboard footage of the Donington test laps which I will post on You Tube if I can ever work how to actually do that, also have race footage but far too upset to post that!

Simon, posting stuff on Youtube has got easier recently so come on we want to see it.

Saw your race and again it was disappointing - please don't take that personally. Rob Crofton appears to have taken it personally but all I'm saying is that the public need to see these cars performing as we know they can (and qualifying shows). I've 'talked-up' Big Sam to my family too on numerous occasions.

Of course what didn't help in your case was the race you were entered in but had the car been lapping in 1.16s it would still have looked good. I wondered why I couldn't hear a gear-change in the normal place on the pit straight.

And the weather - it's been fantastic here (30 mins from Donington) since.
