Yes this car still exists, I know exactly where and saw it a few months ago. There is also another shell that could be used for transplant or panels but also needs work. Both shells still sit outside in the elements. I have heard rumours of this for some years but due to a work colleague I have now been to view and can confirm it is a huge project. It should be available to purchase as far as I am aware !
Ive uploaded some pics of my Samuri taken around 1978-1981. Check out the "Tea Tray" Spoiler.....especially the sign writing on the "spoiler", Sunroof, Roof Aerial. All fitted by me im afraid. Now look at the same on the pics of EOE644K...the "sad Samuri." It has to be the same car!......dont you agree?

Yeah got to be the same car surely. Incidently 793 CHR is now attached to a 1981 Rolls Royce!

I have one! Loaded up this pm. Seem to take an age to load though. Still not there yet. Its taken outside Samuri Conversions, Silverstone in 1980. My Car was taken there by myself to have a Power Upgrade. They loaned YES27L to me to take home to Llandudno, N Wales.I used it around here & returned in it when my car was ready. The pic isnt that good....only a rear view, but you can make out the reg number. The car was blue with the Samuri Ford Tawny Brown bonnet & white pinstriping. Look out for it.

Actually, on second look, your Car YES27L is a bit better pic than i thought.....Rear three quarter view....reg plate easily readable. Hope it helps you. Oh, by the way. The fit looking girl, looking in through the passenger window, doesnt look like that anymore either.....should have never married her!

Thanks - that could help (all though I am not gonna hold my breath, dealing with the DVLA is not simple) the colour matches the DVLA records for that period.........after that it was green and brown, and then red and brown! As an aside - is the Ford colour the colour they all are? Or is that wishful thinking? ;)

One more thing. My Car showing 793CHR which im 99.9% sure is the "Sad Samuri" EOE644K had from the Factory when new a Special Order WHITE interior.ie White door cards & white seats. You can see them in the pics ive posted (more pics to follow). Looks like they were replaced after i sold her. Well certainly the seats were. If anyone goes to see the Car let me know if the door cards are still white.

Second thought could have been Ford Tawny Bronze. Bronze or Brown. One or the other....Definitly 100% Ford Tawny .......

This car looks to have been discussed before online - up to 10 yrs ago (i was bored and intrigued this afternooon...)

Another pic - showing detail to headlight

And this was the text " it is an ex brands hatch pace car with a history file to prove and it has done less than 9000 miles.

it went to the garage several years ago for a sunroof and thats it, it has not moved since! it never got repaired it is now home to mold and dead mice and regulary gets hit by the delivery truck.
people have tried to buy the car and the wheels or the parts and the guy just isnt interested."

Followed by

I noticed in the accompaning pic of Big Sam that there is a car that looks like the one in question behind Big Sam. I've pasted the pic below, I assume this would be a pic taken by Nick Howell in the UK back in the day

I couldnt find a smilie for a pinch of salt...........

This was then discussed on the classiz z car club forum US - and a welll known occasional contibuter here (you can always Count on him) - commented (a cut down version) :

"The picture you attached was not taken by Nick Howell, and none of the cars pictured ( including the wreck ) had proper factory-style metal rimmed headlamp covers. I think you are mistaking the white pinstriping around the headlamp area for the chrome / stainless rims? The two cars had the American-style aftermarket flush-fitting tinted covers.

I honestly don't know why people get so excited about cars like the 'Samuri' in the first post. That car would have essentially been little more than a standard UK-market car with a jazzy paintjob, a bit of pinstriping, some signwriting and a bit of 'tuning'......."

I'd guess it was around Wigan.......
