Also, I forgot. Choose the ones with the least amount of light output. The first ones I bought were incredibly bright, waaaaaay to bright.

These are the ones I ended up with, sorry for the swedish site, they are all over ebay too:

relay, if you need:

Thanks Peter

I've bought the lamps, I will buy an LED flasher relay and upgrade all the amber lamps to LED. The reverse circuit will need a relay to make that work as well.

Currently my reverse switch doesn't work and needs investigating.

The other problem I have is the bulb holder for the reverse clear side of my cluster is for a single filiment bulb, whereas for the clear/amber LED requires the twin filiment type holder.
My plan is to swap the holders for the indicator and reverse over, and rewire it.

So my right side cluster (starting top left and working clockwise) will be:
Running/brake
Running/brake
Brake only (edit - this could be rear fog)
Reverse/indicator.

I also plan to change the side running light to amber (although I may make it clear with an amber bulb)

I'm new to Z cars and my 280Z is obviously to USA spec but I need the rear lights to have orange indicator lenses. I have read this thread but wasn't sure about orange bulbs in red lenses etc so I bought some UK spec rear lights but the red lenses are damaged. I then set about taking the units to pieces using a heat gun - very gently of course. The lenses are glued in and the heat gun melts the glue just enough to allow very, very careful levering out of the lenses. I then reassembled the new spec units using the same method - warm the glue, press in each lense and the glue resets. This also allowed me to clean the inside of the units as they were very dirty after 44 years.

Good work!

I probably should have updated my post, I've so far, rewired the rear cluster and I am putting in LED lamps currently. Just havnt had the time of late to finish that and make a reply with all the details.

I found red lenses with an amber LED bulb did not work for me. So I decided to use the clear lens section as both an amber and a reverse.
