Rota Grids, spacers, centre bores, confusions

Hi all,

I've been looking at different wheel fitments over the past few months, and I'm completely stuck as to what to do.

I was going to go with the Rota Grid 15x8 ET0, but I was told by the guy at Driftworks that 1 - the centre bore is only 67mm (my '77 280z is 73mm,) and 2 - the grease caps will be too long for the Rotas centre caps (although I've seen people mash them down to fit?) He suggested that I'd have to use 10-15mm spacers to make them fit.

Is anyone running this set-up, and if so, how did you make them fit? I've learned that our Zs' have lug-centric hubs, so it might be possible to have the centre bore machined 3mm on the radius, and ~5mm on the depth.

I also noticed that Rota does a 16x8 ET10 Grid-V rim with a 73mm bore. Is anyone using them with a ~10mm spacer to achieve roughly the same fitment?

Any help would be amazing - I'm fairly new to this, and I'm at a bit of a loss!

P.S. It's my first post on the forum! I've been meaning to say hi, but not gotten around to it until now!

When I had mine I ran 3mm spacers on the front as the 73mm centre tapers and catches on the hub. You don't need 10mm spacers as it depends on the size of tyre because you run the risk of rubbing on the rear arches.

Amazing!

I was hoping to use 205/55/r15 Yokohamas as I've read they'll give better clearance than 225s.

I guess I'll order the 15x8 ET0s and make some thin spacers for the front. Im assuming I'll get away with no spacers in the rear since there's no centre bore?

This was with 16x8 10et rota grids

You might still have to run spacers on the rear with 67mm bore as they have 4 bumps sticking out on the rear

Interesting. I don't suppose you've got any photos of the fitment you got with that? I've heard the fitment can be quite tight with 8" wide rims and an ET10

Seems like spacers are inevitable 🙇
I had the centre bore machined to fit, then you'll get away without any spacers.
I'm considering having this done. Was this with the 15x8 ET0 wheels?

With the rota wheels I first had 225 50 16 and they was just catching the rear arches so I changed to 205 55 16 which was fine.

Thanks so much, that's the look I was going for! Guess I'll get the 16x8 ET10s ordered today 😁 I was just reading some older posts on this forum and it seems quite a lot of people are running that setup.

Not sure about the S130, but I ended up with the 16x8 ET10 rims, and I made some 6mm spacers on the CNC.
