Looks like Stig (the original) has won the Historic/Classic section of the rally in his Escort and finished 2nd overall to Steve Bannister in another Escort (more highly modified?).

He has been at the top of his game for about 35yrs now, what a star.

Shame no 240's took part.

The event had a great atmosphere and deserves to succeed with bigger entries in the future, although there was no doubting the quality of this year's entry.

No 240Z's? The entry fee is £2500 and the total cost of doing the event about £5000, I would think. That is a lot extra to find for those of us who already spend every penny that we can get away with to do the little rallying that we do.

Now, if anyone has a spare £5k, we would be happy to be the Z entry on the next one!

Hugh, I realise the expense (especially after reading Motorsport News this week re. Forestry Commission charges) so fully understand how prohibitive it was and why the entry was so small (but good quality). I just said it was a shame there were no 240s in the rally, no doubt you and many others agree! It was more or less an Escort/Porsche rally.

I notice Tony Fall chose to enter a Rover 25 in the Lombard 'Revival' rally instead of his 240 in the R.A.C. (and has now retired after an 'off') Do you think the Revival style of rally appealed to him more or was it a cost reason.

You would have to ask Tony, but I suspect cost is involved.
Whilst the 240Z is his own car, I am not so sure about the Rover. There were quite a few "works supported" cars on the Revival.
