Guys what is and where is the 'Rocker Panel' on a Z?

Why is it called a 'Rocker Panel'?

Is it anywhere near the 'Sway Bar' or 'Header'?

It is the lover structure that goes under the rear dog leg forward and forms the main body structure outside of the floor pans.
I know in the Classic Mini circles they are referred to as sills

Bless 'em, we lent them our language and they buggered it up!

Actually I think a lot of their terminology and pronunciation is easier to understand than ours.

Rocker Panel - now I know it's where rocks hit it more sense.

Why isn't it called a 'rock panel' then. I always thought the rockers were in the engine............................

I believe the term 'sills' used in the UK derives for the earliest cars where coach builders commonly used window sills as running boards which later became what the Americans call rocker panels... it true honest... :EXTRAlol:

I can appreciate they might call things by different names, hood and trunk spring to mind, but at least they are similar wording to ours, but where on earth does 'rocker' come from?
