I caught a post elsewhere yesterday and was saddened to hear this. I have only been on here three years, not a regular but very appreciative of the knowledge and support. Mike helped me loads 17/18 to fix all the wee niggles my car had.

He went well beyond just helping, had a few calls back and forth, and one memorable phone call which was unexpectedly deep and meaningful. Which left an memorable impression. To echo much of the above, I can’t put my finger in it but he had a real calm warmth about him. He cared. Despite his own pains. Such an admirable quality. He was a good human being.

Rest in Peace

Absolutely stunned and saddened to hear of his early passing. I saw it on a drag race site on f / b yesterday.
I first met him in summer 86, when I bought my first Z ( VPK 426M a silver 260Z ) I needed some parts for it, so my ex wife and I drove over to his house @ Basildon. I can still remember his lovely calm manner and voice and the helpful advice he gave me re sorting out various jobs on it. Sure he said that he was a teacher and that he had recently been divorced. I remember my wife took a shine to him !
I lost touch with him when I stupidly sold the 260 about a year later. I bought a white 240 ( RJD 720L ) in 2004 and I called him up re some parts and he still remembered me.
I kept meaning to call in to his place @ Ongar, but never got the chance.
Had no idea he was ill.
R.I.P Mike.

Today we paid our last respects to our much loved Mr F at the crematorium.

It was a beautiful and heartwarming service in memory of a very special soul.

To anyone that met him, he was the smiling helpful friend. To some, he was a mentor. To others, he was Z family. To all, he was the font of knowledge, always ready to impart his wisdom and time generously, with great humility.

We will miss him dearly but we will never forget him. This thread is testament to his impact on us all.

His strong legacy with the club, his indefatigable support of club members, his kind and gentle nature, with that easy smile will always remain in our thoughts. Notwithstanding his incredible achievements on the Z scene and the drag strip hall of fame; the latter is unlikely to be bettered anytime soon.

A perfect send off for a perfect gentleman.

Oh man. Never met or spoke with Mike, but pictures like that in this context is both hearth warming and tragic at the same time.

Only just seen this thread today.. haven't been on in a while. What sad news to hear. Such an knowledgeable and amenable gent who had been invaluable sorting my car. I'm thrilled by the pictures that have been posted...and very pleased there was a good turnout at Mike's funeral.
