Anyone had a problem with auto transmission on the afore mentioned car 2.0 RT 1994, on the M6 toll today box changed up but didn`t engage top gear, then I noticed shed loads of smoke from the rear, pulled up rather sharpish to find the transmission fluid had dumped all over the exhaust, upon the arrival of the recovery truck, they liffted it up enough to have a look underneath, and all the pipes seemed ok and no filler plugs missing, it seems that the fluid had come out by the drive shaft.
Thought and opinions please, also when I got the vehicle back home drove it for a VERY short time to park it and there was no whining from the box or anything..
HELP.

Could be a faulty driveshaft seal, wash it off and put some auto transmission fluid in and see if drips out around the inner end of the driveshaft/gearbox

Good luck

not sure if youv'e sorted this yet (sorry just seen post) but the vacum take off from the inlet manifold (reads absolute pressure) probably has a hole in in it or a valve in the gearbox jammed half way and the gearbox oil pressure went off the scale thus forcing oil every where! also this is the first generation ecu controlled g/box they are prone to failure im afraid, i and many mates have changed many g/boxes,wiring,harnesses and ecu's and still they do it out of the blue, to be honest BUY ANOTHER DATSUN!:D
