Registering 240z import

Hello all
Just wondered if anyone else has had a problem with registering their imports with the DVLA?
I have filled in all the correct documents and sent all the nessesary documents along with it but they keep rejecting the application due to proof of build date, but I have a letter from nissan themselves confirming the build date of my car along with all the relevent information, just wondered if anyone else has had this issue and what you did to resolve it?

Thanks
Joe

Did you send the original title document from the country of origin? You shouldn't need a letter if you have that.

I don't have the original title document, just the build date confirmation from nissan and proof of ownership/bill of sale

Ideally you need the US title document. I have bought many zeds from the US but only ones that have the title document as I didnt want to risk it being a parts only car. I have heard of people getting cars registered without it but not sure which hoops they had to jump through. I do have a couple of cars without titles so ill be interested how you get on.

Best of luck and sorry I cant be of any help.

Ah right, that's not good news, do you know of a way of getting the us title document? I'll keep you updated, spoken to the DVLA and they can't understand why it got rejected based on the information I have given them

Thank you for the reply

Make sure you check over everything as much as possible, its taken me 6 months to get mine registered and kept getting rejected on NOVA. They kept sending out the same generic letter saying I need to contact HMRC to pay duty on it even though it had been done when it was imported and HMRC also saying there was no issues. Turns out one number from the vin was missing on the Nova record so they could never find it on the system. Went through fine after that, though they registered it as a Mitsubishi fuso canter truck...

i have checked everything, think they are just being idiots and cant read tbh, the letter of build date has nissans logo and department all over it so they can't miss it, oh jesus, can you reregister it or not?

All of the cars I have sent over to the UK, all of them have titles. I have had to apply for titles many times and every time the vehicle had to be inspected by police or qualified DMV person. Meaning the car has to be personally inspected while still in the US.

Many times the US owner can find some type of DMV documentation like old registration cards etc that can speed things up too.

If they won't accept the Nissan letter, they may be happier with a stamped dating letter from us.

i have spoken to someone from the DVLA and they said they don't understand why its being rejected as i have everything i need there, but the person keeps asking for owners club proof of build date when i have sent them a nissan one which they said is the best thing i can send

Owners club letter is accepted as we are registered with the DVLA. I do recall a letter from Nissan May not be accepted.
