To be honest just before you send it off you can go over it again to take the surface rust off.
It should only be powdery at the worst.

That was the plan
I've already bought some soft buff / sanding pads for just that

Ok fair enough s'pose the body shop will de-oxidize it then etch prime it or maybe do the repairs (dents and things) then etch it
Can't remember how i done mine now mr moggy steered me in the right direction

My plan is to strip it back as far as poss, then let the bodyshop do any welding repairs
If I could weld I would do it myself, esp the small holes that appear

Get a day off work, only for it to ...... FOOKIN RAIN !! :(

Can't uncover the car and fed up with tripping over it so ...

Time to attack the fuel tank

Some time (seemed like hrs) later ...

Looks nice ... but

Oh a hole (ok a big hole, esp once I had helped it out) :D

I knew it always looked damp around the straps, so nowt else for it
Good reason to get it fixed at last

.. and maybe modded ?

You might want to take a look at swapping it for an S13 200SX tank. It's a very similar shape to the 240/260 tank and its all ready for a fuel injected engine so you don't have to fit a swirl tank etc. I've been toying with the idea of fitting one at somepoint but don't fancy dropping the tank to try it out yet.
And if it won't fit you could always cut it up and transfer all the baffles and internal pump into your original tank as the S13 tanks can be picked up for £20/30 so there a cheap donor.

Looks like a bullet hole ... you got any rednecks living near you lol.

nah, started out as a very small rusty spot till I opened it out
So I sat there for ages with a screwdriver scratching all the underseal off
I would love to have used me 4" grinder n wire wheel to clean it all off

But I want to finish the car before I die :)

Will look into that as I know of an S13 being broken
I did find me a alloy tank but not sure it will go till I get back under the car

Day 1 it rained so just went for a long drive
Day 2 .. back to work ... and then it rained
Today ... all change at last !!
Spent the morning turning the car around (easier said then done)
esp when it means removing a 6ft fence panel and doing a u turn on a field lol
Still its done now so had time to crack on

Time to label the loom so I know what goes where

Took way longer to get the Z loom out then it did the RB loom
Also revmoved a few other bitties whilst in there :)

More or less ready to lift the mota back out

Cheers Mog

Came home from work this eve only to find 2 monster boxes waiting :)

Must be them blow up dolls

Almost !
Look more like those 2 doors I orderd from the states

Even better they fit and are mint compared with mine !!
Slight transit damage to the lower frt edges
But still arrived quicker and better then any sent from the uk
If you could find them?

No need for that blow up doll once I'd finshed with that pair :D

what was the cost of the 2 doors delivered to the UK ?.

Doors cost $70 each !
Shipping cost ..... $830 odd delivered, for the pair on a 3/5 day service (over a bank hol infact)
That inc them being packaged and sent to the uk via a 3rd party company
Still saved me a packet on what they might cost over here

I have a similar set of alloys to yours what size tyres will you be using, and i gues it goes without saying that you will also have arch flares installed.

Yep I have the flares already, tho not going to fit them myself.
Going to leave that part to the body shop
I also have some used tyres tucked away.
235.40 for the frt and 255.40 for the rear, atleast thats what I think they are :D

If they're wrong for the car when done then I can soon find some others
