... It's on 5 cylinders
...still atleast i got the exhaust almost there

Well it was on 5 n now its on 6 again

But not after fitting new plugs, uprated coils and trying a diffo injector and another ecu!
Not sure what was wrong but it may have just been a dicky loom plug :D

Still atleast I got me this Apexi ecu and hand controller to play with.
Mind you not that I know how to use it but i'm sure I can learn.

... and whilst talking of exhausts

Before I can move onto that bitty I just finished fixing this bitty

Deffo not a 2 min job either but atleast its another job out of the way

Spotted that little huuuuuge crack whilst underneith, so time for another upgrade :)

Cooling fans also fitted now but need to power them up next

Boost control aswell to sort then shouldn't be far off a test run :driving:

Looking good Wyn, don't forget to put a heat sheild round the battery or it'll melt.

There is a heat sheild yet to go on, but yep you're right
Will need to get some sort of added heat blanket around that area

Cooling fans now wired up via a sender so they work proper :)
Small heat sheild fitted though it still needs something around the battery area

Seems I had the actuator plumbed wrong so the boost was a little high lol
Now sorted by just changing a few pipes over

This little box of tricks arrived the other day, so I can now set and adjust the boost
Took me a few hrs to fit today but should be worth it

Also got that breather tank fitted so best keep it clean :D

Some great kit going in the car.

Cheers Dave
I've still to work out how to use it :D

Still, that's the one thing I do like about going the skyline/ turbo route
So many bits can be easily had off the shelf !

Bolt on and go

Yes the Power FC can be used with its own Apexi boost controller as an added extra.
From what I've read its not as good as the stand alone AVCR controller?
Dep where you look there isn't a huge cost amount in it hence why I went for the AVCR
Plus it has various other gauge/ sensor functions and read outs which make it a nice tool :)

Cars now back on the floor and looks odd after seeing it sat up high for so long
Mrs aked if I had lowered it lol

Took it for its 1st test drive aswell .... 4ft forwards n 4ft back :D
Nothing feel off and it made it back ok lol

This is why I want a 280z tacho
From what I've read they work with the RB elec ignition and look stock
My 260z gauge works as the vid link below shows, but the needle dances about

But if I can't find one I will find another type Z or Nissan gauge to fit behind the 260 gauge face

Got fed up with searching adds n waiting so the only thing for it .....
Made me own today :D

Got the idea from the Hybrid site and glad I had a go
See it even works and no more flicky flicky needles

260z :: rbcounter1.flv video by 900ss - Photobucket

Used the gutts from the R33 tacho behind the 260z face
Looks ok and seems to work ok to me :)

Run out of time and a bit late to keep reving the nuts off it now lol
So just need to check it reads right then can be bolted in

Tacho looks sound to me, engine sounds very nice to, well done :driving:

Cheers. I agree it does sound good, esp when giving it large :D
Not sure the neighbours agree mind lol
Only wish I had started on it earlier today as I wouldn't have run out of light n time

Still it's almost there now so I may even tax it again :driving:

I love the way you just get things sorted and running - no bullshit.

Just a thought, I tried my 240Z without the ballast resistor last year when experimenting and the tacho was 'all over the place' after about 4k. I think the 260 tacho is different though. There are threads on here about tachos (not the Mexican food type).

No point in bullsh1t as it don't get nowt done :D

I've wired the new RB tach direct to the RB feed from the ECU, so touch wood it should be right.
Not sure it will read right mind with the Z face, but I hope it can be adjusted by the little pot inside it?
The zed loom should no longer be a issue (assuming it still starts when I disconnect the old unit)
Should have done it this way ages ago but A, I didn't have a suitable gauge n B, I didn't know what I was doing ... and I still don't lol
But after looking at other pics a few more times I decided to give it a go
Tis much easier then it looks

Rev counters in n fitted

But it wouldn't start afterwards lol

I half expected it as I'd previously read about the way the Z tacho is part of the ignition circuit
Or atleast it wouldn't start when I'd disconnected the old rev counter
So ....

Some time later and after faffing about I wired a new live for the ecu etc

Now it fires up fine and the new rev counter works once again

Should be on the road next week :)
