Graham, this car is truly amazing. So useable but such an animal when needed. Looks a beaut as well. Definitely have the bug...

I'll get some snaps of my dash when I've repaired it (if I can! You saw how bad it was...) maybe I can help with yours if it comes out well.

Dan

Dan, glad you liked it :) and its so much better on track!

That would be rather good

I'm relieved to hear this, my sentiment of using cars seems to be shared on here by quite a few!

Well I could hardly turn down the opportunity once I was given the option to go for a spin! haha. Not one to make judgements before sampling whats on offer.

Unfortunately neither of the videos you've posted are showing for me....

Race cars/track cars on a track always win over a road car every time from the ones I've tired. I think raw as you so put it, sums it up very nicely.

Haha fair point! A project car is never quite finished is it now... That'll be nice when its had the body work done and out on the road. At least you can enjoy it as the project moves along that way. I can imagine I'll be overhauling the brakes, suspension, chassis strengthening, rims etc slowly bit by bit when mine arrives so you have my full sympathy. When its all done anyway, the thing you first did probably needs replacing so its never finished anyway!

Nice one, the car clubs always seem to be very helpful friendly places from my experience of them, you always make good friends and have a good time. Since your familiar with the GTROC you may know the car that my neighbour owns and I've been out in actually. I believe its was fairly well known on the GTR forums, and to my knowledge it held the lap record at knock hill in class. Excuse the poor quality of the photo.

Odd... both YouTube and embedded.... Im assuming others can see them?

The R35 is fairly track focused, but leagues behind that R33 on track :)

That is pretty much what I am expecting from the 240z, but hoping I wont have to re-visit the bodywork!

I know the car, its been quiet on the GTROC of late. Bit marmite on the colour choice, but it does stand out :)

Bizarre I'll wait and see if anyone else is having the same issue or if its just me...

Yeah that's fair enough, the bodywork bit is extremely time consuming at inherently expensive to sort, hopefully you'll get at least another 20+ years before you need to think about it again.

That doesn't surprise me that you've heard nothing of it in a while, my neighbour purchased it about a year ago and he doesn't really do the whole forum thing so it would have dropped of the forums since his ownership. Haha it certainly does, he' actually had the orange detailing changed to black wrap now instead which has toned it down quite a bit albeit keeps its fairly unique.

Ok, so another trip away with GTROC and some more pictures. We went to France for a belated birthday and stayed in a chateau in the Epernay region, so lots of champagne and wine!

And this was the level of parking we had to contend with

I will be at Brighton Speed Trials in this tomorrow, handicap class (batch 2 - not on the list as I was a late entry) only :) Anyone going to be around? There is a 240z in the line up as well :)

And a 250 GTO Replica - 3.0 ltr bored 2.8 ?

Now that was a good weekend!

Left London early, arrived at Brighton seafront at about 0700... my friend who had brought his 700+bhp R33 discovered a coolant leak, so rushed home to swap to the R35, luckily he is not in central.

As I am only on a National B license, I could only compete in the handicap class. Came 3rd in that class and was beaten by an Austin Healey and sone other thing that both had -9.5 second handicaps and both ran 18 seconds. So I would have had to have gone sub 10 seconds to beat them.

First practice run was without launch control and did 11.51 and my only real run with launch control was 10.94 with 1.84 for the 64ft. I was rather happy with that and think the launch can be better. The launch did feel good though :D

The top 6 for the day were mid 10s and 11s, so with my 1 full run, I would have been 4th overall...... oh well, next year I will have my A license.

Some more pics here:-

Should have a video of the good run on the blackVue, hopefully I will have time to check today.

My friend in the other R35 was struggling with traction, so decided to steal my rear wheels :) 1st run he bogged down, have a feeling it was due to too little power on the launch, but then improved on his final run to 11.3, but was just outside the top 6.

Yeah, this car is still the love of my life and I think that may be half the problem :) would love to keep it, but the timing is just wrong. Hoping to be in a R34 early next year

Sorry to hear this, but if you are hoping to be in an R34, that doesn't sound bad, sounds better to me.

If I had the money I would buy an R35 over an R34

But then I would also buy an R32 over an R34 (I do like the look of R32's)

I would luv an R34 but the 32 looks better imo and the 35 I assume is better/bestest ?

But as I don't have any money, I will stick to my ol Z car Datsun n smile as I drive on by ;) :)
