Prop shaft pitting

I have oil leaking from the rear of my gearbox (where the prop shaft enters the box) on the 240z, I replaced the seal but still have the same issue. I noticed today that the propshaft has a lot of putting where it would seal with the gearbox.

Would this be my issue?

What would have caused this?

yeah most likely the cause of your oil leak if its where the seal seals against.
usually pitting like that occurs from a lack of rust protection where water has sat on it and its corroded away.

Agree with Jimbo, I think oil will get past that.
Also check the condition of the diff mount and retaining strap. If there is a lot of play at that end it encourages the oil leak at the other end.
