Yeah found out mine had been crashed at some point lol. Hopefully you'll be more lucky, best way to do it as well, do it once and do it properly

Well its been done. Not the best of news but I guess it could have been worse. Needs new floor and 37 patches were found through out! And uber amounts of filler! So now comes the fun part.

Did it stay together in one piece? If it did then that's a good start.

Pics please, even if ugly.

Oh she be ugly. Not seen in the flesh yet as working 80hr weeks in Europe at the moment. Pics have kindly been sent on by blaster.
So it begins. We knew it wasnt going to be amazing due to some of the "repairs" we had already found.

So lesson learned so far....Owning welding equipment does not make one a welder.

Nowt half hour with an angle grinder wouldn't cure (or for preference a small quantity of C4 lol  )

If you've been following restoring classic cars on channel 5 you'd understand even the so called pros have a funny idea of what is an acceptable repair .

Been told that it is worse than it looks in the photo's. Will have to assess if its going to be usable and if repair panels are available for the parts we need. Gutting news!

I think it could be sorted.

With a decent welder the patches could be fine and a good fabricator could fix the rear of the sills etc. However it's all down to is it worth spending the time and money on this shell or converting a LHD one.

A common dilema unfortunately and one which has been debated on here a few times.

It just shows how bad a good looking car on a picture can be.

Well it was a sad day yesterday. Heads have been put together and we have decided that the car is almost unusable.
However, I'm determined to get this car on track so we have adjusted the project brief "alot".

A few questions:
Are there any suppliers of steel bodykits? Looking for rear wings which come up as high as possible.

Does the 260z roof match the 240? Mine needs a reskin.

From what I see in your photos, I'd abandon any idea of rescuing this 'shell and cut my losses if I were you. You would be far better off getting hold of a more solid base to work from, and the end result would be far more worth having in the end ( as it won't be made out of MIG wire.... ).

There's was an LHD import for sale on ebay for several weeks recently, and everyone was avoiding it because it's been hit up the 'arris. You could probably rescue that, and convert it to RHD with all the parts from your current car. Might be worth having a sniff around and seeing if it's still available..?

I am looking at another route at the moment. Project costs are mounting so race prepped 911 might be the alternative. Shame really but all depends on what the fabricator comes back with quote wise.

I was well surprised no-one bought them the first time around. I wish I'd put a bid on now! Alas, I have since bought some other wheels, good luck with the sale though, someone could end up with an absolute bargain.

Will be listing a few bits this weekend, dash and glass etc. With the alloys at that price ill just keep em for a rainy day.
