I saw a simular colour on a Matra simca Bageera in the 80's, & it made me ill, sick &
distraught. The amount of money you are spending Andy, overall should give the bleedin
car a good finish. Its like baking a beautiful cake & finally covering it with manure.:D
Its your car,though.................DJZ 60.

with all this newness in your car, aren't you afraid it'll have no...'soul' ? I understand about replacing worn out/broken bits but are you going to keep some oldness in the car or replace everything ?

The nice thing about older cars is that 'oldness'... no ?[/quote]

This is probably the most sensible comment on a project such as mine that I have heard so far and one that has caused me days and days, weeks even of deliberation.

I absolutely agree that as a classic car one of the nicest things is the "patina", the feel of age and worldliness, however, this will be so far from the classic variant that it doesn't really matter. A true classic car man would not give my Frankenstein garage space because it is so wildly removed from a pristine "original" car.

Putting a V8 in a Z will not change it's character so much that it is no longer Z-like but changing everything, suspension, brakes, shell, exhausts etc etc for up to date state of the art ones will. I am expecting the car to drive with a Z flavour but to be more like a modern performance car, the soul will come from it's uniqueness and performance characteristics.

If I can, I would like everything possible to be brand new, that way with a total rebuild, zinc plating and brand new everything it should last me for the rest of my life, so saying, the L Series car which will be next will be very different.

Indeed it is DJ. It would be quite wrong in my opinion to build a car based on what other people think the car should be. It is highly likely that my project ideas will be flawed, something won't work or I will need to work with Laurence to revisit and redo bits that I spec'd up badly....but.... at least I am being true to myself following my own vision and dream.

Trying something new, different or controversial will always attract criticism or as you put it make people "ill, sick and distraught", however, where would we be without people trying new or controversial things ?

If I don't like the colour it will get stripped and repainted.....simple.

No Probs, Andy seems a good sort, but he is quite indecisive,we all need to direct him or
atleast help him in his quest to make/own the greatest Z ever in his street!
He has already put 20,000 pics up of parts & panels, has atleast two body shells, but I get the impression he still doe'snt quite know how it will end up?
& thats why,if for example Derek Sulley was to paint his Z in a mouldy
underpant green,I'd tell him as well.
you don't see many cars on the road with such colours, because it is an awful
choice & an offence to anyone who may have to look at it!:D DJZ 60:cool:

Com On ANDY.......DO IT ONCE & DO IT RIGHT... I do respect 'your vision' but please
make sure its focused & not too blurry........It depends on the finish, the curing & settling
of the paint what it will really look like. DJZ 60.

What a crock of shit ! This car will be an abomination to a classic man, it will only be the best when measured against my personal criteria. Indecisive ? I think not.

Pestered to do so by others so I did. I know EXACTLY how it will end up. They are for different cars with different engines to do different jobs.

Then don't look ! Stay on the safe side of the line, live in your own world. The REAL world rather than a chemically induced one is full of beautiful cars in strong, loud colours. Dodge Charger - orange / Mopar Green......Miura - green / Orange....Murcielago Green / Orange / Yellow. etc. But they are all big boys cars not toys..........maybe that is the difference ??

No more effing red Zs please ! You're all wannabe Ferrarists !

Andy, I know what you mean - the deliberating ! I want mine to drive better than all the Zs I've ever driven ! I want it to stop, steer and accelerate better than most too whilst still feeling like a Z !

I still can't quite agree that yours

will feel Z-like (have you driven a std and a prepared Z ?) but let's leave that one to lie for now.

My interior will have most of the original stuff, even if it's notched, scuffed etc so that I may kid myslef that it's a 30 odd year old car :) !

That's rich :D Have you read some of your own posts you have put on this site ? Talking to me about being blurry is an amusing idea.

It depends on the finish, the curing & settling
of the paint what it will really look like. DJZ 60.

Would you expect a total ground up rebuild costing a substantial amount of money to have a crap paint job ? No, thought not. The issue will be whether you like the colour, not whether it was applied properly. :D :D

I just want mine to drive like a modern high performance car with the beauty of an S30

I still can't quite agree that yours will feel Z-like (have you driven a std and a prepared Z ?)

Yes, I have had two Zs before, a standard 240 and a 260 with a Samuri engine that Spike did for me. You may be right, it will still be very different.

but let's leave that one to lie for now.

Why kid yourself ? It IS a 30 odd year old car

But ours aren't gonna feel like 30 years old on the road are they - and I don't mean 'cos the bitz are new - you know what I mean !

If you want yours to have the beauty of an S30 - watch your colour and wheel choice !

How little you know of my personal circumstances and how hard it is to pay for this stuff DJ - Do not elevate your status to actually knowing much here.

Had you REALLY read the posts on multiple threads you would have seen that Sean and I have been having friendly but caustic sparring matches over a lengthy period of time and that I was repeatedly challenged to show photos of the parts waiting to go on the shell when it is finished.
I apologise for not putting the pictures in the order you would have liked but I do not have ready access to the two big stores of parts (still not photographed), just some of the little bits. The others are at 2 other peoples' premises (you know who you are, thanks to both of you ;) ) I fail to see what there is to knock ??? These parts will not all be used on the same car but on several projects. If you don't like it, don't read it, no one is forcing you. If you choose to knock then please use proper English and joined up writing.
