power steering for a 280z

I’ve not fitted it but the EZ power steering looked good when I was talking to them and seemed a good price as well.

I should have their fitting instructions if you wanted to see it.

I have a 280zx power steering pump got given in job lot of bits if it's any good to you :)

Do you need the 280zx pump to convert a 280z to PS? Or is that just another way of adding PS, in addition to EZ Power Steering and the other commercial solutions?

I bought this kit last year, hoping to get it fitted in the next couple of months

Hey Toopy, I have this installed on my 240z.

Couple things that I think would improve the kit are; the finishes on the parts could have been zinc plated / powder coated to prevent rust occurring. Mines been installed for over a year and there are signs of rust already.

The other issue I have, I can't find anywhere to mount the controller. So at the moment it hangs. I may tuck it up behind the console in the future.

As a tip, I ran both a positive and a negative cable through the bulkhead towards the battery instead of relying on earthing to say, the bulkhead 👍

Thanks for the pointers, my plan was to paint those parts in the engine bay where possible before install. But your right they should be supplied with some coating at the price charged.

For the feed i was planning on connecting to the starter motor, i don't really want to run extra cable back to the battery if i can help it. For the earth I'm sure there is a suitable connection under the dash somewhere, as like you i wasn't planning on mounting the controller to the bulkhead.

What did you do with the rotary adjuster? It seems to be pretty much set and forget, so i wasn't going to mount it anywhere as such.

Set and forget is pretty much what I did in the end.

Cruising in the car is easier now with a lightened steering wheel. Roundabouts are the best; just a smooth turn of the wheel left and then right.

I also did a quick U-turn on a junction near me, swung the car around and the back end slid round to follow. Wouldn't have been possible with the heavy steering for myself.

Most fun I've had in a long time 😎

This looks like a nice Kit but I've not researched it, i like the fact it has GPS so that the steering is more assisted at low speeds and less so at speed.

Have this kit in mine .Very well made and works well with the gps speed sensor. Also in the process of fitting another two kits.
I understand that EZ are also looking at using a gps sensor in the future

Yes that's fine for research, but wouldn't you rather ask the question on here as well, and get replies from people that have already fitted a kit, whatever that may be and can offer real world advice, do's and dont's etc? ;)
Since you're pointing it out friend, I would do the reserach - paste up the links and THEN ask the questions which would complete the subject as an aid for everyone.....but that's just me and my way - no criticism here.
