What is the issue with them?
At castle Combe, the guys got fed up of my misalignment on the hood so much, they stripped it down and attempted to correct it.

After their attempts, they said the hinges were knackered and needed a better set but, I'll admit I'm out of my depth on these things.

Looks to me you need to adjust it to the right and need a big hammer on the bonnet

Is it the complete set up your after, ie 2 hinges and the two connecting spring rods?

Mine was raised above the headlight cowl like yours and I took the bonnet off and filed the bolt hole wider on the hinge and happy days.

"Knackered" hinges seems kind of unlikely, unless they have been hit or otherwise assaulted. It'd take some doing to actually *wear* them out. That'd be a lot of bonnet action. Tart's drawers come to mind.

In my experience it's much more likely that they are partly seized. The factory plated them (with gold-passivated Zinc) and then they were attached to the unpainted body, to be painted at the same time as the rest of the body - first with red oxide primer, then a second primer (depending on body colour) and then final body colour on top. They ended up with a fair bit of paint on them, but they still suffered from rust at the pivot points and this leads to stiction, so they gradually end up with a lot of restriction in their movement - both in up *and* down positions.

I've just stripped and cleaned a pair of early 1970 hinges. They were really hard to extend and fully retract and the bonnet would not sit down properly - consistently - each time it was closed. But a thorough strip, clean and lube has made them as good as new. There's no noticeable wear on them and now the bonnet goes down to the same closed position every time, so it is far easier to adjust successfully.

Recommended.

Nope not partly seized unfortunately. Martins car has had a ‘prang’ on the right hand side (side hinge will not sit down properly) at some point in its past. The mechanism looks bent to me and the spring bar will probably be a little bent also. The hinge will sit flush if you push down on the corner but will pop up again once you stop pressing down. Probable a bit of slight panel damage too.
