    Hello all,

I am having a lot of trouble having some paint made up for a '71 240Z - Datsun 905 Red/Flamingo

Online I have found some american cross references for 905 red but three different local paint suppliers are unable to find anything on their systems.

    Ditzler PPG 71899
    Dupont 8710
    Acme rogers 90848
    Sherwin williams 4007

Anyone had similar problems sourcing paint from the original codes?

A lot on here have had problems I think. Have you got anything that you know to be the right colour, petrol flap or something - that you could remove from the car and take to a paint supplier and they can match it from that.

If you've nothing to match it to - you need to see a car that is the right colour in person - you'll have to pick as close a modern colour as you can get I would think ...

There is a lot of similar reds for the 240Z, reference - ... saying that overtime the paint does change and the method used to mix the paint is no longer the same as used in the 70s. So your best option is to color match, or if you are respraying the whole car get some samples and see how they differ.
