Is petrol heavier than water ?

No, it is lighter. You can work out the weight of fuel by using its specific gravity.

A cubic meter of water weighs 1000kg, so 1 liter weighs 1 kg

A cubic meter of petrol weighs 737kg, so 1 liter weighs 0.737 kg

......but note that I didn't actually know the petrol weight, I had to look it up.

Isn't that the basis of the whole metric weight system?

(It is. I did physics at college and did very well at it. Have to explain before pmac comes along and says that I'm wrong and misleading and a gross danger to the world with my awful notions etc...)

There are some clever people on here tonight  so losing 40 litres of essence is only going to help me by 29.48 kg - bum - looks like I'll have to jack the sterao anyway ! I have a heated front screen so bye-bye heater, some sound-proofing (waste of time and for poofs anyway)......

Thanks (yes, I'm lucky) that's what they're for - I need to get my moneys' worth too !

But I know someone who perhaps abused too much their little gem on the day................

Sounds and looks a fantastic day out Sean. So what did you learn from your tutor and what did he think of your 240?

Were you on track in your 240 or a 370/GTR?

Unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to drive a 370Z (the press bagged the car and the time) and even if offered 2-3 laps in the Skyline, I wouldn't have accepted......because I'd 've come across as a grand-dad on a sunday drive compared - one needs more time than that - honestly ! I preferred to be driven by a pro. with 1000s of kms of experience. But if there is a next time......

What did the two tutors think of mine ? Well, not just mine but Sylvains' and I guess any Z but obviously with a well balanced 3.1 version and a 3.2, they were a little spoilt :

they loved 'em - less fast than a GT-R but almost as much fun to drive !

They were VERY impressed with the overall handling and predictability.

What did I learn ? Gawd, must I give the tricks away ?

- Improve my look towards the next corner, turning point, apex.

- brake later and harder and then if necessary change down a gear

- mostly steering : no feeding the wheel through the hands, keep both hands on the wheel at all times, just turn and if I almost cross the arms, it doesn't matter AND push the wheel, not pull it !

Who can't be impressed with the handling and predictability of a track prepared 240, even in this day and age?

My lads brake later and harder than me - I've noticed that on video and by watching them too. That's why they think the brakes are poor and I don't think they're too bad. They are spoilt these days, every car has good brakes.

I drive to and from the circuit and although I have tow-eyes for little 'oopsies', I don't want to have to organise a flat-bed home.........

This time I didn't bother about fuel consumption and was at 95-100mph most of the way up and down on the A11 à +/- 4000 revs.

Forgot to add that the two pro drivers had the choice of PS or not.......despite the Z weighing a minimum of 500kg less than their habitual Nissans...............they chose with !;)
