get a pressure switch fitted fast and dont drive the car until you have just incase the pumps packing up, if persists after fitting get oil pressure checked as most oil pressure lights come on at about 7 psi. if your doing 80mph on a fast strech of road bye bye engine if you arnt fast enough, it aint worth the risk!

Hi,
The oil pressure gauges on z31's are very unreliable...I think mine just needs a new sender unit.

not being smart if you have a faulty oil pump or cracked pipe, dont drive it till sorted, a fu**ed motor aint worth it,

Oil Pressure Gauge

Hi Guys

Just read Jez's posting about a dodgy sender which got me a bit worried. My gauge is very slow off the mark and also slow changing with engine revs etc.

When i start the car it eventually gets to between 30 and 60 but on a run it very slowly drops to just below 30. Is it ok??:( Should i be worried??

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cheers

Usually (but NOT always) the sender is the culprit...check before you cost yourself lots of grief.

Hi,
Mine's been the same as yours for the last two years!...seems to be getting worse though!

both of you need to do yourselves a favour by fitting new senders and quickly, for the reasons stated above, the price of a switch is cheap compared to a new engine!
