Nissan are really rubbish in this respect, aren't they? When I had my Capri, and my Jaguar XJS, both companies were great for parts.
I ring my Nissan main dealership for anything and they are bloody useless - it is as if they have forgotten they ever made Datsuns.
Tried to get a touch-up paint from them - quoted the code and their system had no record of it, despite it being an original colour. Eventually got one through a specialist paint place who found the code in their records without problem.
Big companies like Nissan should not make cars, then 40 years down the line just abandon people.
Thank heavens for people like Mike who are still serving the needs of owners like us!

well you just cant expect a brand to have all parts in stock for 40 years. do you have any idea what the costs of that would be? its not just z's they made, it bluebirds and skyline and laurels and whatever else they made..

i believe car manufacturers suppose to stock parts for 20 years and thats it.

I run a Cherry Turbo as my daily driver. You should see the amount of items no longer available that cross over from a std Cherry, and how many of those were on the road as opposed to Zeds !

There is an unspoken, unwritten, non-binding suggestion that this is just ten years, not twenty. That rules out all Z and ZX parts up to the demise of the Z32 in Japan. As of next year it will start to apply to the first of the 350Zs and they haven't even started to go wrong in a big way yet!

It's a shame Nissan are not more like BMW in maintaining there classic cars. BMW have a seperate division for classics and still make bits for older cars they even publish on there website old parts they've started to remake or stuff that's come of back order can't see Mike ever saying Nissan have started to remake some of the stuff on this post. I guess BMW feel it promotes the brand seeing older cars still being used and if you have an older classic for the weekend you would probably have a more modern car for the weekday from the same marque. But then I suppose a different customer base and all that.

Luckily lots of z parts are available aftermarket and that will stay so for a long time because everybody wants a Z :)
