Nissan Design Centre Invitation

I received a call today from David Beasley at the Nissan Design Centre located in Paddington, London. They are inviting Club members to attend a one day meeting with their cars at the Nissan Design Studios to allow Nissan designers to see and study current trends in the Z range.
The requirement would be to provide nice examples of each model variant across the range.
They are not concerned whether the car is modified, or if import variant or UK market car. Ideally we want two seater and 2+2 variants where applicable.
Refreshments will be provided. The designers will want to discuss individual cars with their owners.
The time and date are not finalised yet - ideally I want a list of members flexible enough to travel to London at short notice.

So far:
Tony Anastasiades - Z32 SWB TT
Huw Brown - 280ZX 2str
Dean Halsey - 240Z
Len Welch - 240Z LHD US
Chris Jones Z32 2+2
Jake RAH 260Z
Jonathan 240Z
Tony Lamb 260Z 2 seater
Steve Peck Z31 2 seater LHD
Ahmed Z31 T 2+2

Hi Mike

If no other 280ZX 2str available, then add me to your list. I'm an flexible about the date but will need a bit of notice for work etc

I think your car may be ideal John as the clue could possibly be in the description

Nissan Design Studios to allow Nissan designers to see and study current trends in the Z range.,

maybe they would like to see what the public want, so I'm up for it it in the orange one, seems to meet the current trend category, if not i could always take the blue one

I would imagine Nissan already know what an unmodified car looks like so there is no point in showing them a standard car, unless its just for comparison on the day. Maybe your right Terry and they do want to see what we are doing to the cars that wasn't done 30 years ago.

Any more info on the purpose of the day Mike. I'm now thinking the more modified the better to inspire the designers. Maybe even switch from the jap trend and, dare I say it, go German.

I would say the more modified the better.

There must be a reason behind all this. Dare I say it, research for a new Zed???

I would like to go but it's a long way and I presume the London pollution zone or whatever it's called will need to be factored in

So long as it won't be happening in the next 3 weeks I'd be interested in going along. I can be pretty flexible with my time being self employed.
The car = an (early/mk1) 74 US LHD 260Z modified with an L28, triple Webers, 3 into 2 Cannon header, Mallory Hyfire ignition, 5 speed transmission, Nissan turbo clutch, R200 diff w/ 3.90 ratio, Nissan 2+2 brake master, Supertrapp muffler, python alarm, central locking, rear view camera with hi-res colour screen, shaved, etc.

@ yellowz
Shaved = removal of parts fitted onto the body & sometimes smoothing out lines, filling holes & that kind of thing in an attempt to give a cleaner look.
In my cars case - the aerial removed, quater markers removed. rear bumper removed and all traces of removed(indents behind rear wheels, the oval holes on rear panel, mounting points) and also the horizontal indent that runs across the rear panel.

Some of the other mods on my Z include a heated front screen, Datsun competition seats, datsun competition steering wheel, currently rolling on Konig Imagine 17" but will most likely be running Konig Rewind 16" any day soon.
I'm not sure if you would really call most of these a 'mod' but I guess if it's something that's changed since it left the factory then it's a mod.

Hi, I could attend, dependent on date and time. I have a 1998 300ZX TT 2+2, Chris Jones.

Thanks, mine's been half shaved then. The previous owner took a lot of stuff off, just never got round to filling the holes!

Depending on when it is I would be up for this.

Mine is a 260z 2+2 although currently in primer and very much undressed.

Any excuse to take it out when I have bolted everything back on!
