Hi all, I was thinking of buying a ZX as my Dad had one when I was growing up and found this site!

I’ve seen a car advertised, just wondered if anyone knows the car or could guide me on price etc… I have no idea on the current market despite being a total petrol head

This is the car…

Thanks in advance! Sam

I know of a 2 seater that struggled to get half that value and they are suppose to be more desirable and it had a turbo on it,At that price it’s not far off 260-240 price bracket and even those are for sale for a long time usually
The wording in the ad is something to be desired Ie 2 new tyres a year ago ,are they still new then and that depends if they are a good brand like Michelin pilot sorts etc
I’ve had 2 280ZX s and loved em but I reckon 15 k ish tops should find you a mint car,That car is well overpriced just like others we see advertised be it 240-260-280,

A 280zx has come up on FB Datsun selling page in white rust on every panel low mileage but the scuttle panel has rot on it,now you’ve not been able to get that replacement panel for many years and sometimes they are to far gone to repair, remember if it’s on top then imagine wot it’s like under that scuttle panel
bloke is asking 9 k but needs a paint,it’s a T top which is not as desirable as a 2 seater although I prefer the T top it’s an auto which wouldn’t put me off although not a quick car in it’s day and certainly not by todays standards but they are nice to drive, probably worth about 3 k time you’ve got it up to speed and spent 15-20 k getting it spik and span

Buy the absolute best you can (and ensure that the cars' condition warrants the price). I agree with Status, £15k max for a minter whether 2x seater or 2+2.....but don't get an auto........

Thanks guys, the more I look at the colour the less I can get on board with it. They’re desperate to sell the car and I’ve been offered it for far less than the £22k price tag. I took some pics when I looked at it yesterday. It’s got original glass which is cool… it’s a solid car but I don’t like colour or wheels. If anyones interested I think they would take £9000. A more reasonable price.

Great community on here btw…

Love it and changing the wheels is nothing........but an auto box without a turbo.....makes it an ox !

To be honest I would be more inclined to take a project such as the one below rather than that car Sam.

That car is known to the club and I believe it just needs a good quality paint job. But would need that qualifying.

I am aware of some of the history of this car, the PO of my car bought this with some of the funds he realised from the sale. All I can say is be cautious, there have been several eBay ads placed for this car in previous months with different stated ‘facts’. I am happy to provide info to an interested buyer so they can make an informed decision but would say in its favour that the new reduced price would fairly reflect the work required on the car.
