Previous thread says car has had extensive bodywork so has seen a welder at some point it looks like. But as long as it's been done well that is no problem. I wonder what to though, floors probably and that rear three quarter maybe?

Anyway, car looks a great project - well done on finding a RHD one!

Well I'm fairly convinced its a re-shell from a US car. quite a few things suggest this but I think the clincher is in the second picture initially posted.

If you look through where the LH rear light cluster should be you can see the hole in the deck for the second vent hose used on US cars. This was not present on UK market cars.

So for me its a US car that someone in there infinite wisdom has tried to give a UK make over to. The extensive welding would have been the conversion of the bulkhead to RHD using the original donor car.

I know some will say what does it matter blar blar blar.... Well the hint is in the original post, the guy has innocently purchased what he has been led to be leave is an original UK car. Well far from it...

So the Car has no original VIN reading the other thread so what does he have? I will leave that to the more positive minded.

Thanks for all your comments and PM's guys.
It seems the evidence points to a reshell... Caveat emptor and all that, I suppose the paint removal will likely provide the real truth. Whatever the outcome, it's in really good nick and is a great basis to make the track focused Z I've always wanted.
I'm definitely carrying on with it.:)
The body shop I'm using is busy until August so I'll post more pictures then when the paint is off.

I am glad that you are carrying on with the car. I wish i had seen this thread when you first posted it. I would have told you that your first job when you announced that you had a car was to buy the biggest, thickest suit of armour that you could find. As you now know, you need one. Good luck.

Now you see I would say having a quick look back at the comments made so far it's about 80% positive. Not sure why a suite of armour is required.

I think it would be remiss if people held back observations on the evidence provided.

It's a great looking clean car which should have retained its original identified. As long as the information gleaned stayes with the car going forward so prospective purchasers in the future can make an informed choice.

A suit of armour to protect him from what, exactly? The truth...?

In my opinion one of the best cars to have come up for sale recently was the white RHD converted US shell that retained its US VIN. Solid, RHD and honest. Nothing wrong with that.

On the face of it this car looks like it has a lot going for it. Finished, I think it would be very desireable.

Guys

Reading the "Fred" thread, does the guy concerned not have two cars? The one he was talking about and then he was asked "Do you still have OWW?" To which he replied Yes. So to me there is the car he was asking about in the thread and then he has another car with the OWW reg.
