Hi

zcarsource.com stock a repair kit for the early calipers, looks like just seals by the price.

https://zcarsource.com/brake-caliper-rebuild-kit-rear-brake-280zx-79-81-new/

I have a pair of used calipers and a box of odd used bits pistons etc. I’m not sure of the state of the calipers, they have been in the garage for quite some time. You are welcome to the lot, you might be able to repair yours by cannibalising these. Drop me a pm if interested, just some contribution to postage is all.

Thanks Huw!
That's v kind of you and I'd be happy to contribute to postage, of course.

I'm in France though in case that makes the whole thing too expensive!

You're a good man

Bit of bodywork and more sound deadening chipping today. So far only the floors exhibit rust and am very happy with the overall condition of the car! A fun day in the sun! Cheers all 🍻

Passenger door in the firing line today.
From what I can see, the window didn’t quite seat on the weatherstripping so a little trickle of water could get in every time it rained. The water collected in the bottom and voila.

Lots of complex shapes but little by little, I’ll get er done!

Found a donor door off a Toyota for some similar shapes 🙏

Update no. 2 TOTALLY given up on the door. Way beyond my skill level so she'll be off to the carrossier soonest.

I have managed to redo all the interior trim so I'm not a complete failure!
My mother in law is making me new seat covers too. I'm going to have to be extra nice to her for about a year but it'll be worth it!

Cheers all 🍻

PS I've ordered a black carpet.

Update.

I found my cojones and decided to persevere with the metal work and I'm managing to surprise myself!
Simple tools and lots of hammering on small sections to make up a whole seems to work.

Door almost finished.
Floor cleaned and prepped and frame rail repaired on both sides (jacking point damage).
Won't take long to weld in floor and phase one (operation pass MOT) will be complete!

Have also finished spraying/wrapping interior trim and seating. Photos to follow.

Stay well all 🍻

Looking great. If you want clean the plastic moulding on the bumpers. They respond really well to a light wet and dry sanding to get the dull finish off and a coat of black bumper spray. Brings them up nice.

I've also just found out that the car is registered as a 1983 but the model codes indicate a 1980.

This would tally with the rear subframe which is from the 1980 period.

Strange that this would have been missed by the authorities?

Can anyone confirm?
Unfortunately i don't have a vin number anywhere on the car.....

Model code: HGS130 164739

Cheers!
