This is hijack.
I'm amazed at this forum being used to continue what, to an outsider, seems to be childish squabbling.

I don´t really mind, it has become a thread of engine output and how to achieve the best possible figures, which I will have to do.

At least this is an active forum, which is harder to come by. So the comments may stay :driving:

Oh please
If H3nrY the thread starter wants it removed I will remove it on his request
It is a genuine question about what the graphs mean to help the less knowledgeable amongst us understand what is happening according to engines from the Dyno results and not Spam as you put it

So each thread starter has more power over and responsability than a forum moderator ?
I wasn't directing the spam statement at you Mr Burns - step away from the keyboard and remember who I am please.

Place yourslef in a new members' shoes who wants dyno info - are you going to look here ? Oh, you're going to do a search and fall upon it BUT it SHOULD be in a technical section and so placed I would contribute and perhaps more people also.

Despite comments about spamming, I'm going to stick this in here :)
Not sure if you can see these well, but these are dyno plots from my relatively standard 240 engine - some 'Mr Z' stage1 head work 10+ years ago, with unknown Cam .

The two plots show the engine with triple Dellorto DHLA 45 and original but rejetted Hitachi twin carbs.

I guess this shows a couple of things -
you don't get a great ROI for triple carbs and engines in this state of tune
I've got dips in output at both 4500 and 3500 RPM, so I think I win.

Very interesting and very honest Jon
I think your comments are spot on, even so, still not bad on a street 2.4 though

Come on Man! Where did you think winging pom came from... :D

Very interesting thread though. I like Jonbills last post with the comparison photo's. Would it be considered that the Hitachi's have the better output?

Thanks for the comments -
I've changed a number of things since that Dellorto run, and the Dellortos may just have the edge now, but on a pure performance basis, it hasn't been worth the change.
On the other hand, the Dellortos look and sound fantastic, and its been fun learning how they work.

changes since then:
1) Pmac/Skiddell air box & cold air induction
2) modified mechanical advance on distributor to run higher static advance with 35 degree max.
3) finally (this week) invested in bigger idle jets. ******. wish I'd done that 2 yrs ago!

Ok another dyno graph for you all

Went to my favourite rolling road today with Mr MacDonald, previous results were a strong 283 hp but wasnt happy with the cam so had one ground with only 570 thou lift but the same duration which subsequently ran a 12.45 at Santa pod.

Made some more mods (different inlet trumpets, wrapped header, additional heat management) and off the bat ran 287 (slight improvement) however torque was down

Fitted Mr Walkers latest development (adjustable inlet trumpets) and hey presto we now have a credible 294 hp with good torque...boy these L series are sensitive to inlet tract length.....but of course all the real engine experts all knew that:rolleyes:

very impressive Skiddell
should be a bit quicker than a bat out of hell

Only 6hp away then Steve  i presume that you had your adjustable trumpets set at a shorter length than in the past

Yep only six away from the target. The headline number is not really that meaningful on its own. Just look at the area under the torque curve to see why the Melton express is V quick in the real world.
You are correct in presuming that a shorter rather than longer trumpet is making the best headline figure. We cannot however go in to specifics on this as it will infringe Steves intellectual property rights to this information.
There is only so much that can be revealed in public.
We also performed a further experiment today but the result was no increase in power.
So in effect we are now at the end of development of this engine in this phase.
Im sure we will have a power run on another dyno soon just so we can get a 300 printout to go bar stool racing with.
Dave Walkers rolling road is always very modest with figures.Very much in keeping with its owner/operator What is remarkable about it is the fact that it is consistent year upon year.
The fact that it is operated by a near genius in the UK world of NA tuning just adds icing to an already tasty cake.
Dave Walker/ Emerald.....:bow::bow::bow:
