New 260Z Owner from NI

Hi Andrew, good to find some more owners here in NI.

Would be good to have a get together sometime, I'll let you know when I'm home next and see what we can do, unfortunatly my car will be off the road for a while then though, I'm hoping to get the bay and front wheelwheels stripped, media blasted to bare metal and repainted along with fitting my new suspension in two weeks but realistically I can see it taking 3. With me probably only having 5 weeks at home that doesn't leave long but lets see what we can do.

Love the colour, really suits the body shape.

Wheels look superb, are they 260 or ZX?

Steve

Thanks

Ever since I decided I wanted a 240/260 I wanted it to be blue, guess I was lucky that one showed up in the right colour. Definitly my favourite colour for them.

Wheels are from a 280ZX, I really like them, if only they were bigger.

I'm home for a week after finishing some more training so I got a chance to check out some parts that are gathered.

Ian, I'm liking the Cusco brace, nice other parts too.

I may have missed this, but what are the plans for the engine, I guess you won't be keeping it stock having seen your driveshafts....

Enjoy

I wish someone would do camber adjusters that didn't require cutting the turret tops.

Not wishing to deviate too much from Ian's thread but these don't require cutting : Kmac Datsun 240Z 260z 280z Front Camber Caster Kit S3 | eBay from what I gather the ride quality can be a bit harsh as you do away with the rubber insulator, but no reason why a substitute rubber insulator to go underneath can't be made.

Ian, I had another look at your pics, she looks really clean, and even better now you touched up the odd bit.

The cusco bars are great, they look very nice and are very solid, Cusco stuff is always very good.

I haven't fuly decided on the engine yet, going to drive it a bit more with the L26 before deciding. Either going to go RB26 which was the original plan or possibly a built L28 2.9/3L.

Nice Ian, "Santa" was busy carrying all that!

Santa was very busy, just a pity he also sent me all the bills, thought gifts from Santa were meant to be free.

What/which suspension did you go with? I wish someone would do camber adjusters that didn't require cutting the turret tops.

Went with the Mckinney setup in the end, although with 4 and 5kg/mm springs rather than 5 and 6.

Thanks, shes seems pretty clean all over, looking forward to getting the bay sprayed as that will finish her off nicely and then I can also be happy that there no hidden rust issues on the front end.

Nice looking kit, Ian, you'll have a busy week

Unfortunatly I won't be fitting any of these parts this week, they will all be fitted on my next holiday around summer time.

Unless I'm mistaken this is my voltage regulator?

DSCF9157.jpg

I'll be respraying my bay soon and I'd like to tidy it up a bit so I'd like the voltage regulator to go. I believe if I buy a new alternator with an internal voltage regulator Like this one then I can remove the external voltage regulator, but how does it get wired in, what do I do with the plug where the external regulator used to be? From what I can see I need to put some kind of diode onto it? Is there something I can get that will just plug in?

Also while on this subject is there a neater alternative to fusible links? Can I just wire in some kind of inline fuse?
