It's not how much you spend!!! It's who's doing the job!

Of course it's who's doing the job but count the hours to dismantle the glass, trim, acessories, repair/replace panels.....and then strip it back to metal before even painting (then the price of quality paint) !;)

Yeah one of my neighbours is having a Trabant restored, he was saying that some of the auto-repair shops will charge about £115 an hour! Christ almighty! That's OK for a 10 hour job, but when you're into a 60-hour job, you're starting to rack up a huge amount of money.

Sure it's worth it tho ;)

personally I really like the one on the wiki page. Looks a little 'pinker' than burgundy (maybe just the lighting/way it was shot?) but definately not 'Ferrari-wannabe-red' ;) I want it!

Agree with Sean about the Metallic thing, its just so right on a 280. They also age better than flat colours. You've got to think what works with your biege interior. If you had a black interior then your choice is endless but you don't.

Just look at what the manufacturers do. With biege they either use black/green, or another earthy colour from dark brown through to a red like above. Personally I think the metallic Bronze in the pics Jez posted looks fantastic with biege. And it will still keep it's shine and look good in five years time.

Good luck it's never an easy decision.

all of these things are so true, especially what you said moggy.

I actually saw the car the other day, it LOOKS like a total shed, but seems pretty damn solid. But the paintwork is hilariously bad (which is in itself a good thing, because no one will know what hit them!)

The guy has a red interior, and he suggested: very dark gunmetal grey with a red interior. He says it'd look like black at night, and from a far, and would look like a mouth everytime you opened it up! I think that sounds pretty damn awesome, but anyone got any pics with that kind of setup?

Looking at the various piccies. I would have to go with the Bronze or even the burnt orange. Especially with the biege interior.

Just my 2p worth :)

Cheers

With beige interior I'd have white (possibly with a metallic flake in it if you can, like an ice white) and black out the bumpers. I don't have a pic but I'm gonna "doctor" one of these to show you what I mean.
